Recently picked up a Colt Open Top replica imported by Taylors called 'The Cavalier". This is my 4th Open Top and it was calling to me. It did come with a very mediocre holster that did not fit well, so I felt obligated to make one.
I wanted to make it unique to the gun, so I Googled images of "Cavaliers" and got either a really despicable Chevrolet from the 1980s or pictures of mounted cavalry men from the Middle Ages carrying long swords. I thought a long sword on a long holster might be the ticket.
Printed out a pic, transferred to mylar, then etched and carved onto a leather pattern I made. Nothing elaborate or detailed but I think matches the revolver pretty well. Fits like a glove. Thanks for looking.

Love the nickel plated Open Top as well as that sweet black holster!

They're a perfect pair; meant for each other!

I was just looking at that revolver at Midway last night - how do you like it? Very nice rig, sir!
I like it very much. Shoots great. Only complaint is that the barrel is very hard to remove because the little frame pins were also nickeled, and the added thickness makes a difference. I may need to sand the nickel off. Other than that, it's a real pleasure.
