I watched, it was a countdown on serial killers or better yet, spree killers. One thing they all had in common was they all used firearms. Sooo, of course they interviewed all total liberals to voice their opinions on the big bad gun! All made idiotic comments about how if we all were disarmed we would not have these incidents. Only one or two out of the twelve or so interviewees made comments like this the other two were actually right and said that everywhere we have CCW and slacker gun laws there is a lot less crime. But, this program made them look like idiots.

Another thing I noticed, all the liberal interviewees made incorrect comments about the firearms used in every instance and there was not one correct term or type firearm reference made by ANY of the liberals who they interviewed!

Spree killers V Serial killers

A common mistake in the US media/public is what is a spree killer and what law enforcement/mental health experts consider a serial killer.

The FBI's Robert Ressler wrote that a "serial killer" is a person(s) who kills 3 or more people in the same way or with the same methods but in different places or times.

Spree killers are subjects that display serious rage or violent rampages that kill several people in one place or all of the murders take place in one time frame.

RS

Robert Ressler and John Douglas have both wrote excellent books on these topics... although more centered on the serial killer.

Mind Hunter is highly recommended.

Pardon the crudeness, but all serial killers poop and pee too. If we banned that, they would die of constipation - no more serial killers. Of course, like gun control, such an enactment would also adversely affect the rest of the population.

serial killer dont typically use firearms, they are more apt to kill with their hands, rope, or an edged weapon. gun control wont stop serial murder. however i dont see there ever being a another true serial out there. investigation techniques are far too advanced.

im pretty sure it was john douglas who defined serials originally. your def. is close but the main part you missed is there must be a very defined "cooling off" period between each kill, the victims must be similar and all kills dont necessarily need the same MO, the MO can change and evolve over time.

I saw the program and had to turn it off after they discussed the recent shooting at a church in Colorado that was stopped by Jeannie (can't recall her last name). They called her a police officer and made no mention that she was no longer active duty and was armed and able to stop the attach due to a ccw permit. They of course had Hemkle (Brady Bunch spokesperson) right after saying that (paraphrased) This is why we need to keep weapons to police only. When a trained and "tested" person is able to respond there are positive outcomes but any other situation is not good. He does'nt feel the need to mention that whenever there is discussion of increasing the NYPD budget it's to train officers BETTER, because most officers are not adequately trained by their departments so where does all this great training come from. As I recall she has stated after the incident that she had never even drawen her gun as an active duty officer so she certainly was'nt TESTED as he seem to think. What are you gonna do, can't fix stupid.
