Golf Ball Launchers (Gun-Related)

Do you think that these will be outlawed in the next AWB?

I better go out and buy as many golf ball launchers and golf balls as possible due to the possibility that they may no longer be available. :scrutiny:

Chrono data pleeeeease!

I got to know what kind of muzzle velocity you can get with these things... Making up a calibrated tangent site would be pretty straight forward.

I have one, and have put about 60 rounds through it.

First they are not accurate, sometimes the ball spins off in a hook, slice, rises or sinks at will for an undetermined reason. Unpredictable. Only got about 50% hits on the side of a dump truck at 45-50 yards.

Second, they go far. Lost sight of the ones we launched at a 45 degree angle.

Third, they are a blast to shoot.

Fourth, blanks are more expensive than FMJ, at .30 - .40 each.

Fifth, don't get hit by one, it will mess you up, not a toy. Even the bounce back off a tire rolled 60 yards, quickly.

Yeah, I like it.

(Hoping to find one for the .50 BMG, that will deserve a range report. LOL )

I was wondering about the spin myself.
My idea for controlling spin direction: If you put a small wedge of foam rubber or something at the top of the bore end you could get more consistent backspin.

You could use primer only blanks or a handgun version for putting and shorter range shots!

Bloom Automatic also makes a few similar launchers.

For my money though, I prefer shooting "rifle grenades" with an M1A2 adapter.

It's just a big lawn-dart that fits onto any NATO flash-hider, and the grenade cup perfectly fits a tennis ball. Due to the fins and weighting they fly quite well if you angle them up a bit. With a 20" AR-15 using noisemaking blanks (not proper GL blanks) I was getting up to 75m and could pretty reliably hit a stove at that range.

Of course, I picked up a surplus quadrant sight and that helped considerably.

Could you use that as less-lethal? Not that I would for a human, but maybe a barking dog at 3am...

"I want to see one of these you can screw into shotgun choke tube threads."

That sounds like fun, maybe take a cheap extended choke tube and weld a golfball size pipe on the end?

Where can you find 12 guage blanks?
