As should be obvious from the title I am looking for a good .22Mag Rifle. I would like a Ruger 77/22 however they have stopped making those in .22 Mag so I am not sure what other good options there are. I know Remington still makes the 597 in .22Mag but I was looking for a bolt action if I could find one.

Also, as always, I would prefer not to break the bank. I don't want to pay as much for this as I would an AR!

the best are the old mossberg 'chuckster', the old brno's, the cz, and any of the marlin model 7 series, or if not them, then something from the 8 series. These will all be older and used, except the cz is perfectly acceptable new.
If you can find the takedown brno's that would be very cool.
If I could not do any of these, then I would concentrate on finding an old winny 9422 mag, lever of course, but they will set you about 500 bucks.
Remmy no longer makes the 597 22 mag, but can be had used, for about 300 bucks and up.

The CZ-452 22 WMR shoots well and looks nice.

Can't say about the others "Rangerruck" mentions but the old Mossberg 640K "Chuckster" was/is a splendid .22 magnum, and earned its' "Chuckster" nickname honestly. The one I had sent at least 200 woodchucks to Heaven while I had it and the neighbors I sold it to used it to shoot many, many more.

+1 on the CZ. Mine's uglier than homemade soap (old, well used), but shoots under a quarter at 50 yards with cheap ammo.

I vote for the CZ and the Biathlon Basics as two of the best 22 WMR's on the market today for the money. (The BB is not a bolt per se but is instead a toggle action.) Incidentally, I have an extra BB and it is listed in the classifieds...just decided I'm a bit WMR poor...have 6 others. Anyway, you one a bit more pretty and refined...go CZ. Unique, excellent trigger go BB. Both are accurate...as to which is more...probably comes down to any given day.

I am in the market for a .22 WMR too. I have come to the conclusion that the CZ 452 in .22 WMR is the best bang for the buck. I am going to a gun show this weekend to buy one.........Good Luck!!!

The CZ would be the best if you want to shell out the bucks for. I have a Marlin 883 and am happy w/it. I did have to work on the trigger but it shoots pretty good and didn't cost me an arm and a leg on something I rarely use.

This one looks to be in excellent shape. It's only a single shot, but that really is not a problem as the mags are really hard to get and you can just chuck one up the pipe! I'd put a good quality 3-9 scope on it, prolly a used Leupold Vari X 2 for $100 or so in some quality tip off mounts. These things have been known to print sub MOA groups at 100 yards with ammo they like- mine certainly does this to 150 yards.
