i want a cheap scope for a 7722 and i mean cheap not 90 dollars. whats a good one around 40? ik alota u r gonna say thats crap but whats the best in this range anyway?

why would you want to put a $40 scope on a 77 22 ? I haven't found a scope for $40 that is worth the frustration of missing......

4x Bushnell is about the only one that I know of that is decent and within your price range. :)

No such thing. Spend the money and get a good one. Scopes are one of those things that you generally get what you pay for. At one time I went the route you want to go and had scopes that went foggy, knocked out reticles, would ot maintain a zero and a host of other problems. Drop a couple of hundred bucks and get something that will last as long as you will.

$500+ rifle and a good $40 scope? That`s like what`s a "good" bulk oil for a Corvette......:scrutiny:

It's not $40, but the best cheap scope I've ever had was a Swift. I think it was something like $250 for a 6-18. It's clear and has repeatable clicks. I'm just using it on a .223 so I have no idea how it would work on a large caliber gun, but I'm happy with it.

here ya go! $30 I paid at a sporting good store, I can snipe squirrels down from trees with my pellet gun. [I have used it to shoot a tree 300 feet away I heard it ping it so it can be scoped in]

(I cant see paying $200-400 for a pellet gun that has worse reviews than others under $180...... for a pellet gun? :what:)

But for real. A nice gun like that needs a good scope, dont go overborad get something under $150 ;)

Nikon pro staff $90 (fixed power) $130 (3-9), over your range but the cheapest scope i would put on a real gun.

best scope under 50 bucks, ever; in the whole universe and history of it.

beware; it is not a 3x9x44 titan; it is a golden antler with an AO.
there is a centefire version of this as well, but has no AO, don't get it.

the air rifle version is adjustable down to about 10 ft, it is air rifle rated, adult rated, spring piston break bbl rated. That is why it is so good.

I have also heard that the WW Centerpoints are good, but I cannot comment as I don't recall using or even looking through one. Not sure of the price...but it was pretty cheap. :)

Alright now that we have all had out fun flaming the poor guy I'm going to dose myself in gasoline.

As far as cheap scopes go the only thing i ever had any success with was tasco, they work on a 22 most of the time.

I had NcStar which did cost a bit more like in +100’s which I mounted on Saiga, I was able to hit coke cans 200 yards away with it, it wasn’t bad of the scope clear and crisp. Tasco however I got varmint in 24x zoom starts to get blur pass 12 x

i know everyone likes a good scope but i have a scope around 40 bucks on my savage 243 and even with that scope i can hit the same bullet hole at 100 yards its that acuurate. and remember its only a 22 its better then useing a 6 dollar tasco .22 scope. btw im also lookin for a 3-9

I like scopes that rangerruck posted, they have twist dial with NUMBER, not this unknown junk and you twist with a dime. I like the PSL scopes also just a nob with numbers easy to dial in

A couple of years ago I took my yearly vacation down in Ky, mid August, as usual. I was looking forward to a week of squirrel hunting, camping and fishing. :D
About 2-3 days in, I was sitting under a huge oak tree, waiting for a shot at a nice gray with my 10/22. He sat up on a limb, roughly 35 yds away, clear shot. But he didn't fall! :what: I'd already gotten 2 that morning, so I figgered I must have just missed. waited some more, and missed again!:fire:
Long story short, my $45 '.22 special' scope was FUBAR! :cuss:

I left the area, set up a target, and took a rest to see what was going on. At about 25 yds, I was hitting about 6-7" high and to the right! And I couldn't adjust the scope in! After spending somewhere around $140 for the non resident small game license, fishing license, and LBL permit required, I didn't have the $$$$ to go to a local gun store and pick up another scope. :(
So, just like my scope, my vacation was FUBAR, at least as far as squirrel hunting went!
The moral of the story is, buy a decent quality scope - You can get a good quality Nikon, Burris, Weaver, Pentax for under $200, several in the $100 range, especially on ebay! I'm looking at a Burris 2-7x26 for $129, possibly a 3-9x32 for $159.

Spend the $$$$ - it's worth it!

I have been heard (don't recall where exactly) that Ebay scopes are about 90% counterfeit...I would steer clear and go the WW route on the cheap. :)

I started experimenting with a Bushnell Trophey 6-18x40 on my .300 Win Mag. It is still holding zero perfectly. Ofcourse that isn't exactly what you asked, but I'm just saying all the cheap scopes arent so bad. I set out to break this one, but even the 200gr loads havent yet.

i mean cheap not 90 dollars

I'd look right in that price range with the Nikon Prostaff fixed 4x. I bought a factory refurb a few years back for about $80 and mounted it on a 10/22 I use for plinking and it's worked great.
