most of the common pistols only need a conversion barrel. Glock, m&p and sig p series. So far all been flawless. With the sig i had needed a 9mm barrel. The m&p and glock i run stock minus the barrel. Never had an issue. I use it only for range work tho
I hear two sides on this one so I don’t know how consistent it is, but I know sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Some pistols need a different extractor to go deep enough for a 9mm vs a .40. The conversion barrels I see are typically around a hundred bucks, so for just a bit more a person can find a complete “upper” and know it’s going to work properly. I wouldn’t use a 9 conversion in times where it truly mattered, so I expect that a failure of such type would only slow down my paper punching, and I would use a conversion barrel, however if I were using it as a carry gun I would buy the used upper and “know” that there would be no issues with extraction.

I was too. And i got a barrel for an older gen 3 glock 22 i got 10 years ago. Pretty much flawless. So i tried it with the gen 3 23. Same thing. Flawless. The m&p was pretty much flawless 2. But i did have to use a lighter spring for it. I
