Whichever SP shoots best out of your rifle at 100 yards. If you're not reloading, you'll have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo that shoots best out of your rifle. Assuming it's an SKS or Mini-30, it'll have to cycle the action too.
Most of the ammo makers load 123 or 124 grain SP's. Cor-Bon loads a 123 Barnes TSX and a 150 SP, but they're expensive.
If you handload there is a 123gr Horandy spire point that is supposed to be built just for the 7.62x39. Reviews have been very good. Other then that I have to agree with the Wolf SP crowd.
That's a 123gr sp @ 2350fps with a Federal premium bullet. You shoud expect far better accuracy and consistancy with Federal than with most Wolf or other Eastern European ammo.
I'm not sure how Federal could be any more accurate than the 2" 100 yard groups my scoped SKS gets with Wolf 154 soft points. It's not generally that accurate a rifle. If you have a CZ bolt gun in the caliber or something, you might see a better group from the Federal, but I'd handload for a bolt gun. The SKS is simply NOT a tack driver and 2" groups beat the 3.5" I generally get with anything else in the lighter bullet weights. Note that I'm shooting tighter groups than with 123 grain stuff from both my rifle and my carbine. The carbine has no scope. YMMV
Remington 7.62x39 125gr. SP works good for me. Deer in the freezer, an 8 pointer on the wall. Works very good on coyotes, too. I have no problems with it out of an AR platform.
After age 76, my Dad typically hunted from a weathered shack within a private forest of central Michigan. He toppled many deer with his Russian carbine shooting Winchester SUPER X ammo featuring their 123 grain bullet. None got away.
Here is a link to some test results for various 7.62x39 ammo. It looks like some of the hollow points such as the Barnaul and Brown Bear will work for deer.
