Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, I've been lurking here for a while. Chalk it up to laziness, or the fact that by the time I get around to a thread, anything I would contribute has already been said. But be that as it may, I bring you good news.

If one goes to the MAIG.org site, and looks up their membership, the first mayor listed is Sam Jones of Mobile, AL. He's been known by various nicknames here, my 2 favorites being "Scam Jones" and "Mayor McCheese", but I digress...

The good news is that he was defeated last night, and will be out of office come 4 Nov 13. His replacement, Sandy Stimpson and I have talkjed about this, and he said that he had no plans "between now and doomsday" of joining MAIG.

I finally had something to post!
Charlie

Mobile has been in trouble for a while so it is good news to see the blankiddy blank out of office.

I don't get Mayors Against Illegal Guns? Isn't everyone against illegal guns?

I'm from the county, not inside the city limits but I was thrilled at the news of Stimpsons victory for more reasons than just his membership in MAIG. In keeping it 2nd amendment associated he thinks its ok for himself to own a gun as proven last year when he caught a prowler in his garage, and held him at gunpoint with his pistol until the police could arrive, he just doesn't believe everyone else should have them.

Yes, and the interesting part of that one is that the word is that Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran was willing to back date a permit for him if push came to shove. I can't prove that one, but it is making the rounds.

Every time I hear the MAIG name, I'm think about years ago, when Hilary Clinton was campaigning in the home of an "undocumented worker" and the woman's neighbor yelled her status through the wall. Mrs. Clinton's response? "No woman is illegal!" Wish we could say the same about guns...

In response to 3 men and a boat's post, I hate hypocrisy. To the OP, good to hear he got voted out.

Good for Mobile.
And thanks.
"If one goes to the MAIG.org site, and looks up their membership." I didn't know that someone other than a member could check out their membership.

Spectralman - I hate hypocrisy too.
It just shows the thought process of someone who understands and exercises the use of a firearms in defense of ones self and property, but all the while working to undermine our rights.
Now just to get a good congressional rep in Bonners vacated seat

My parents are across the bay in Fairhope, although they are neutral on guns.

In what manner had the Mobile Mayor tightened regs on guns within city limits?
I hope to plan a car trip down there in the near future during a decent-sized gun show, whether in Mobile or Pensacola.

Yay for us!! My wife fed me updates on the vote counting while I was at work.
To be honest though, I did have the thought that it would be REALLY interesting if that "Doctor" Doris Brown had won. She was , uh, off.... To say the least!

Ps- This isn't my first post? I've been on here for over a year.. Curious about that.
