Looks like good news on the pistol powder front. My LGS has done a good job of keeping things available but one of my first choices (AA#2) hasn't been in stock for awhile. I was down to my last hopper and thats bad news when you are shooting 500 per week.

I went in yesterday afternoon and he had just gotten in a very large shipment of Accurate pistol powder. He had 2,5,7, and 9. We got to talking and he told me that the word he has gotten through his distributors is that delivery is starting to open up and that in another couple months things will be way better. I had heard this from a few other people also and have no reason to doubt what he said.

I'm not sure how much he got in stock but he sold me a 5lb of AA#2, three 1 pounders of #2, and two pounds of #5. He said he had enough that he wasn't putting limits on it.

That last sentence is the really good news.

I appreciate your post and I don't mean this badly but I just can't believe anything that is rumored at a LGS. When I see powder where I live I might start believing but there is no powder for 70 square miles around my house and that includes a Cabela's, a Bass Pro Shop and a few other big stores along with at least 12 smaller gun shops.

I refuse to believe anything I hear and only half of what I see...

Well I honestly wouldn't expect people to believe the rumor from the LGS owner. I only halfway believe it, but as I said above, I have no reason to doubt him. When the shortage was primers what he told me proved to be true.

He is the first guy to get any real amount in stock in my area. He managed to keep stock by various methods through much of the shortage but the last couple months nothing could help the situation.

Earlier yesterday I was in my states capital and stopped in several stores, they had nothing except rifle powder.

I've done ok over the past several days:

Online purchase, four pounds titegroup, one pound w296, one pound 4227.
Gun show this past weekend, four pounds wst, one pound no. 9.

The above were not my first choices, but were available at the time. It does look as though things are headed in the right direction in relation to powder supplies.

This could be good news.

I have been seeing only rifle and a few shotgun powders in stock here locally. Pistol powder is still just a ghostly rumor here.

It's not going to happen overnight but I believe things are starting to loosen up. Obviously to some extent because my LGS is getting it in.

I just wanted to spread the word to be patient, it appears to be coming.

In the past 2 weeks I've picked up 3# of 231, 2# of Bullseye and 5# of Unique in addition to 3,000 rounds of .22 LR. I'm not sure if this signals a slight return to normalcy or I've been at the right spot at the right time.

When you see popular powder like Bullseye, Unique and Titegroup on Gunbot in larger quantities than 1 lb for more than a day that will mean things are changing. That's not to discredit your report but so far I haven't seen any change there. I was able to find some 2400 in 8 lbs locally awhile back but that doesn't mean it's readily available to the masses. I just got lucky.

That is encouraging news.

I've been so busy lately I haven't been in my local shops in about 2 months now. I guess I need to mosey over and see what's in stock.

It's going to be spotty for awhile. I think when it starts appearing, people are still going to be in "fill the cupboard" mode. At least maybe it's oozing into the "spotty" area though.

Like above, I think I'll call mine and see if they have anything where pistol is concerned.

Called 'em. Nope :(

I bought two different types of powder to load 9MM and .38 just last week. It's the first pistol powder I have seen locally in almost a year so I wasn't to choicy about brands. I haven't worked with them yet but hope to load some this weekend.

I have been working up pistol loads using shotgun powder lately. It gives me many more options in case of future shortages.
And surprisingly, I have gotten very good results.

All kidding aside, I do appreciate the post and I truly hope it's true. It's not that I need much but I have a lot of friends who are very low on powders, especially pistol powders. (I lent some powder already) I would like to pick up a pound or two of HS-6 and some AA5744 but other than that, I'm good. When things settle down I would like to play with some of the new stuff like CFE-Pistol, I just can't help myself! :p

I was able to find a good bit of Power Pistol lately which is what I'm shooting for 9mm. Not optimal for the light loads that I normally shoot but it goes bang ok.

I've also been able to find Red Dot a while back. Couldn't get it to meter at charges low enough for 9mm but I think I may work up some .45ACP loads with it.

Hopefully it gets better soon, though honestly it doesn't take much powder to keep me supplied. I shoot maybe 5000 rounds per year so I can go about that long on 2.5 lbs of powder.

Yea Ive seen Power Pistol and AutoComp pop their heads up throughout this thing. I stayed away from PP for the exact reason you mentioned above, it sounds like PP likes it hot..

So, what are we gonna talk about around here when the "crisis" is over I wonder?

I have picked up 4lbs of Titegroup this week from a LGS. His shelves were full today with a good stock of Hodgdon, IMR, and Accurate powders for rifle, W231, CFE Pistol, and bullseye. He said he's got 2 shipments in the last week. I am hoping my gun club calls me soon with my two 8lb jugs of Titegroup I ordered back in January.

Been looking for some H335 at Cabelas but no where to be seen for the past few weeks..
Was hoping to hear some good news on rifle powders too :(

This week I got an 8# of Win296 & an 8# of HP38 from 2 different LGS. Both are still scarce, but I work full time & don't spend a lot of time looking for powder locally. If I stumble into 2 I need in the same week, it must be getting better.

Yep Red Dot, Promo, and Blue Dot have been staples in my inventory since I started reloading last November.

But I will say pistol powder has been showing up with surprising frequency lately. LGS recently had PB, some more Blue Dot, and 4756, even some Power Pistol. I snagged a couple pounds of the latter, and ordered five pounds of TG from Cabelas.

Shotgun powders for pistols huh? Don't tell anybody, but American Select is the best pistol/handgun powder made in my opinion.

I don't know where you all are finding Titegroup but I am quite jealous. Nobody in/around York, PA or Mesa, AZ has it and I'm running low :(
