$600 for a G19 is robbery. The best gunshop price I've seen here for a new G19 is $489. I bought my G19 used but practically unshot, it still had the copper lube from the Glock factory in it. It was a great buy and is a great pistol.
Take a look at the barrel hood and the barrel. If there is little to no wear on them and the copper lube is still on the inside edges of the slide, then the pistol was probably never or barely shot (copper lube can be put on by the gunshop too so look at the barrel. Take the slide off and barrel out, it is very simple, takes two seconds. Ask the shop to do it for you maybe). You might also want to check the serial number under the dust cover, some production lots made between Sept. 2001 and May 2002 had some problems with the frame and could possibly break at one of the rear rails...gun would still function but you don't want that. Glock has an unofficial recall for it. Most of these serial numbers begin with E and then have a lower letter as the second in the series. My G19 begins with EYL and is not effected, since Y is late and mine was made after Glock corrected this. These "effected" guns were around a lot but time is passing and its becoming water under the bridge. Just something to look for. I'd definately buy a used G19 in good condition over a new one if the price difference is significant...they are great guns and will run for a long time. Good luck.
