GOOD SCOPE for a .22LR

Just remember you get what you pay for. Don't expect worlds from a $30 scope or even a $150 scope. Cheap is cheap for a reason. These companies aren't out to give away product and if you pay a cheap price you get a cheap scope.

I also have a Marlin 25MN and I have a Simmons .22Mag 3-9x40 AO on it and it has been just great. It is about $50 and I put it on just to try it out but am so satisfied I will probably leave it.

The Tasco rings should work. If I remember right they were sort of ugly things so I used equally cheap by better looking Simmons rings.

I’d look at either the Weaver or Clearidge 3-9x32AO or if your budget is a little larger then the Leupold. It would help if we knew what the main purpose for this scope ie; hunting or range work. If the later (target work) take a look at the Weaver V16.

I have two Intensity Optics 3.8-12x44 AO's, one mounted on a 10/22, and one that used to be mounted on a Savage 93R17, and a 6.5-20x44 AO that is currently mounted on the Savage.

The 3.8-12x44 is from what I can tell one of the few that use aspherical lenses, and the picture quality is very good. If you're into photography you know how much more camera lenses with aspherical elements can cost and the improvements they bring.

Great scopes, they were being closed out at Natchez for less than $100 each, when they are in stock.

Check out this thread on Rimfire Centra for a discussion of the scope.

They are made in the Philippines, apparently in the same plant that makes Nikons and other scopes. Intensity is a brand owned by ATK (Federal ammunition), they also own the Weaver and Simmons brand, and it appears that substantially similar scopes used to be branded Simmons.

Edited to add:

Natchez gets them in stock every now and then and I think other vendors may too, check out the thread on Rimfire Central.

You will need pretty high rings. I used the one piece high scope mounts from Dednutz.

I use one of these on my .270, but I want another for my .22

Can anyone recommend a good scope that has less clutter and size to the reticle? For example something like this (scroll down a bit)... http://www.buytelescopes.com/product.aspx?p_id=15151&store_id= without the $1300 price tag? Either that or full reticles that are puny.

Looking for something affordable, good for target shooting, and allows one to see small dots without the obscuration caused by many scopes. It is to mount on a Savage Sporter 23a that I paid $80.00 for. It's a very fine shooter for a sporter, but it ain't a bench rest target rifle.

Sorry to dig this back up, but I got the tasco that rangerruck recommended yesterday and mounted it to my Marlin 25MN. The clarity is decent, and it feels solid. I plan on sighting it in this weekend, and I'll return with more pics after that. For now, here's what it looks like (note: the see-through cap on the objective is skewed because it gets caught on the iron sight):
