I was wondering if anyone knew of a source for clays. Either online or super stores would be great.
Also what brand of shot do you use when shooting trap?
Thanks:)

I buy at Dunhams. Tell them you belong to a club and shoot a lot of clays (I do both). The manager gives me a "competitor discount" since I buy several cases of shells at once and about 10 boxes of clays at once. Wherever you get supplies, ask about a discount if you buy in quantity. It is surprising how many dealers will give discounts.

I hesitate to say it but, Dicks has targets real cheap.

I don't care for the place but they do have some stuff at cheap prices.

Sorry, just looked at their site, none in your state.:(

Its impossible to buy clays online, unless you buy by the pallet and have them truck shipped in. A box of clays shipped UPS would arrive as dust.

Sportsmans Warehouse has decent prices on clays and ammo. WalMart here carries White Rocks at, IIRC, $4.19/90 ct. We have a local farm supply store, Big R, which carries White Rocks at $6.99/135 ct. I shop there if they have them, otherwise I brave the crowds at WalMart.

I buy clays at the local gunshop. They're so cheap, it's silly. Even at the stores that traditionally have high prices, they seem to be cheap.
Unless you're shooting "hand trap" you don't really need clays as they're part of the price at Trap Clubs. 3.50 buys you a round of trap around here if you supply your own (one box of 25) ammo.
For ammo, I buy at the local clubs if I can. Watch for sales at Dicks or, if I have to (ie desperate), I'll buy at Walmart. A "value pack" is around fifteen and change for 100. Anytime I can get a case of number eight for around 40 clams, I buy.
As far as brand, I shoot anything that's cheap. Lately I've been using Estate which is kind of dirty for a gas gun but no problem at all for my old Wingmaster pump. In fact, I just got in from a round of 100 sporting clays and the gun was cleaned up in about twenty minutes. 870's rock!
The only brand that has ever given me trouble was the cheap Winchester value pack stuff. The White Box Winchester was fine but the "value pack" is not so nice.
Good luck and welcome,
Mike

I shoot at our club. We have access to the trap machine which is automated but you need to load it with your own clays. Not a problem except you have to buy your own.
So do most folks shoot #8?

Most of the guys I know shoot 7.5 or 8. Many of the clubs here on the East Coast are tight on space as neighborhoods are creeping in on all sides. Most of these restrict shot size to 8 or 7.5 to keep the ranges short.
All of the "value pack" stuff that I've seen is 8 or 7.5.
Rather than switch back and forth, I just found it easier to always buy 8 shot.
It's been a while since I bought a box of clays but I think that a big box, which is like 135, of "white flyers" is around 13 or 14 bucks. Walmart sells the small boxes of, I think, about 90.
I have a Trius "One Step" thrower for "hand tossing" and it can be hours of fun.
Good luck,
Mike
