A few days ago, I asked my boss' permission to go camp at his ranch and hunt hogs (there are tons of 'em). To my surprise, he told me to look for one of his Black Buck Antelope that needed to be taken and shoot if I saw it! Well, we found him last night
The picture is of me (right) and the ranch manager, who guided the hunt. We got him out in the open, with a clean kill from about 150 yards. He was walking with a few of the doe and stopped to look back at us. They walked a bit more and he turned back again. That was all I needed to squeeze off a 30-06 Silvertip. He went down hard and did not move after the shot.
This one was about 4 years old and the dominant male of the herd. They wanted him out of there because his horns weren't nearly as long as some of the others. He'll make a nice wall mount for my boss, and we're splitting the meat. I've heard they are pretty tasty!
This weekend will definitely be one to remember!
