Has anyone here got a Kimber 82 from the CMP?
I'm considering springing for one, and would be interested in how accurate yours is. If you scoped it, I'd be interested in the way that was done too.
Thanks.

CMP as in Civilian Markmanship Program? They have Kimber 82's? I thought they just had M1As, M1 Carbines, and ar-15s. Can you help me out here with a link or something? All I have is http://www.odcmp.com/ and I couldn't find anything about getting Kimbers.

The Smallbore Forum at www.jouster.com has a thread running about scoping one of these Kimbers. I haven't read the thread, so I don't know what's entailed, but the only complaint I've heard about them is that the stock isn't particularly comfortable when used in competition, and replacements are hard to come by or expensive.

I started that thread on Jouster.
I've been looking at these rifles for a couple of years and they are growing on me.

I don't know if I'd be real concerned about spares. I've had a Winchester 52 (made in 1929) for about 10 years and haven't had to fix or replace anything on it.

Anyone else know anything about the Kimber 82s?

I haven't personally shot one, but I've handled one belonging to a young man shooting in our Junior Marksmanship program at our range. It seemed to be a very solid, well made gun, and the young man who owns it has achieved a Distinguished Expert rating, using the cheapest bulk .22 ammo he could by.
