Got a Micro Desert Eagle - pics

I found this Micro Desert Eagle at a gun show today, and came home with it. It was lighter than I expected, and seems very high quality. Now I just have to go shoot it.

Here are some size comparison pics of it next to my P3AT and Series 70 Colt. The pics aren't great, but should give an idea of the size and width.

Looks like it's shorter, but it's also wider. But IMO for the market market width would be the most important attribute once you get under a certain length and height).

He just purchased it and hasn't shot it yet, but I have shot mine twice now and the last time was with HOT Buffalo Bore ammo.

Recoil isn't a problem and the pistol shoots everything without a hiccup and accuracy is very good for the Micro's size.

Great pics, especially the side-by-side comparison ones with the P3AT. I handled one recently at a gun show, and while I was impressed by its small size and quality construction, I thought the overall width and weight were slight drawbacks to an otherwise interesting concept and design. Hope to read a range report from you very soon.

I agree with Kokapelli, the recoil is not bad realizing that it is a blow back, and not a locked breech. The gun is well made and requires no fluffing and buffing. It's a quality product.

$500 cash out the door. That's about the best price I've seen anywhere. Another dealer there had one for (IIRC) $530 + tax.

Fired 20 rounds of the Buffalo Bore/Gold Dot.

I ordered two boxes of it and figured I'd use one box for reliability testing.

The Buffalo Bore is definitely hotter than the other ammo I have used but recoil isn't a problem.

Accuracy was good and all the rounds fed, fire and ejected perfectly. Good stuff!

i'd say reliability is most important, and the ME380 may be tops in that department. introduced in 2007, the Czech ZVI Kevin was designed, tested and adopted for military use, which cant be said for the others. no screwing around, no recalls, good to go out of the box.

its perfect for me in a wallet holster. i can have it out & firing in 3 seconds, and i'm a clumsy old buffoon.

Got the two extra magazines I ordered from Magnum Research today.

Having three magazines will make the thursday shooting session better this week.

The magazines are marked "made in Czech Republic."

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that a lot of the Micro's components were made in the Czech Republic.

but 1200fps M.E./288 ft. lbs is pretty remarkable for 380. less from a 2.2" barrel, maybe around 1100 fps? the shortest barrel they tested was the 2.75" keltech.

Speer Gold Dot claims 900 fps/196 ft/lb, but thats from a test barrel. probably considerably less from a 2.2" barrel.

In Jeff Quinn's tests the Buffalo Bore 27C/20 round clocked 969.5 from the Micro.

At almost 1000 fps the Gold Dot should preform well from the little Micro.

Because of the increase in chamber pressure I plan on only using the Buffalo Bore ammo sparingly and will keep one round in the chamber and possibly one on the top of the magazine backed up with five rounds of good fmj ammo.

I did email Buffalo Bore about chamber pressure worries before I ordered the ammo and Tim Sundles at Buffalo Bore assured me there was no problem.

And I think it was even faster from the Kahr P380, but I like the pistol and expected slower velocity from the shorter barrel.

I have three P-3ATs that are reliable, but I like the Micro much better because It doesn't have the smilie problem that both the P-3AT and LCP have and it is in my hands certainly more accurate than the P-3AT and appears to be of much higher quality.

the Kahr was a few fps slower than the lcp. Jeff measures fps twelve feet from the muzzle. wonder what he'd clock @ 0 to 6', 6' being a more likely scenario for SD. be interesting to see the differrence, not that im interested in a numbers game. it is what it is. interesting stuff though.
