Walked into local fun store and they had a new old 1858 clone in a brass frame and 44caliber for dirt cheap. I asked if they had any wiggle room on it and they knocked $20 more off it. It's a Richland arms 1858 knockoff. Supposedly the guy had it on a plaque in his office for a few decades.

I was already on the way to the range with my 1851 brasser clone so it went along for the ride and shoot. I got it real nice and dirty.

Had the wrong size caps for it but a little pinch made it run with 11s Spent a hour running plates at 40 feet with it. Ran great and had no issues!
Can't say that much for my 1851 knockoff. Couldn't hit a damn thing with it and it wasn't reliable.

I know the store owners well enough and they told me the guy who brought it in brought this and a steel framed 1851 in and the 1851 was loaded but with no caps. Lol! Funny but not funny.

I may try to pick up the 1851 steely if it makes it way in to the store.
I never used the 777 as I talked about in the first post. I just used about 17gr of pyrodex under a ox yoke wad , 454 ball and bore butter.

Bought a bunch of cigarette papers on the way home to try my hand at paper cartriges. The wife saw them and asked if I have taken to another hobby...

Good times. I like cap and ball stuff even if it is messy.

Richland Arms was a importer located in Blissfield Michigan. He brought in many different firearms from the 1858 to muzzle loading rifles.
There was a entire series of shotguns that were fairly nice to. They will show up at gun show every once in a while.

They are addicting! I'm up to 4.5 now.
I had bought a 58 Pietta Remington a good 10 or 12 years ago. Shot it a couple times with a conversion cylinder and factory 45 Colt cowboy loads and then put it away. 3 years ago I pulled it out and learned to shoot it with Black Powder. I've since added 2 Pietta 1860 Army's and an 1851 / 44 fantasy Navy.

I might've said this before, but keep an eye on Cabela's, they have a couple good sales per year and really discount their C&B revolvers.
Otherwise Dixie Gun Works has decent year round prices.

Have you checked Cabela's website lately? There are no deals. The new BPS corporate has taken over, it seems.

Too bad, it seems.

Jim,
People were claiming that Cabela's would never have another sale this last October because of the Bass Pro buyout and then - bam - they started cycling through their inventory.

If we get to December 2017 and no sale - then we can say things have changed.
