I would not dry fire any rimfire weapon.
The firing pin is driven into the edge of the chamber raising the steel into the chamber area. Over time this will lead to stuck cartridge cases or failure to feed. The other possibility is a bent or broken firing pin, causing the gun to misfire.

That depends on the model of gun. Some do, some don't. But I would agree that it's better to play it safe. Snap caps are cheap, and used brass is free.

Thanks for the comments. I was nervous about how this gun would turn out. Wasn't sure what to expect. Now that it is complete, I'll give it a try this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed!

What kind of ammo does the 452 like? Can I use the cheap stuff?

Also, I ordered a scope, and am unable to find rings. I need rings for a 1inch tube (the scope). My rifle has a 11mm dovetail and will require medium height rings.

Mine loves Wolf Match Target, and CCI subsonic. CCI subsonics require extra force to close the bolt, because the bullet is long enough that it starts to engrave on the lands when I close the bolt. They are one-hole capable at 25 yards with iron sights. The drawback is that I have to adjust my front sight to shoot them at 50+ yards, because I have the sights setup for high velocity ammo.

So I pretty much use them for small game hunting and close range target shooting.

BKL rings are ideal for a CZ.

The best bulk ammo for mine is Winchester Wildcats, if you can find them. Winchester X-Pert hollow points shoot well in mine as well. But nothing groups as tight as CCI Subsonics.

My 452 is the last gun that I would part with.

I'd sell all my handguns, my AR and my centerfire bolt actions before I'd sell that pretty little 22.

I adjusted my trigger on my CZ452 today. I still haven't fired the gun, but I wanted the lightest trigger pull possible for those long range shots. I unscrewed the small nut on the trigger spring to the most downward position. Actually, the factory setting was only about two or so rotations from the most downward position.

Anyone know what weight the trigger pull is on a CZ452?

Well, I took my new CZ 452 Silhouette out to the range today for the first time. I sighted in my scope and had alot of fun. I had the entire range to myself too!

Pics below of the rifle, the target set out at 100 yards, and the groupings after a round of five 100 yard shots to each target.

My main challenge is remaining as still as possible during long range shots. Seems like my breathing or whatever makes me move about 1" around on the paper.

you'll need a .177 cleaning rod. the .22 clean rod is too big / the bore on CZ's is too tight for them...

check out rimfire central for more info on CZ's. the CZ forum there is the most popular forum on the site other than the 10/22 forum.

Also the brook's trigger kit can help your groups, maybe move in to 50 yards, get it dialed in a little better and then try out a bunch of different brands of ammo to see what your's likes best.

- best regards

At 50 yards my groups were much better. I'd say the 50 yard groups about the size of two quarters. The ammo I was using was the budget priced Remington green box rounds from WalMart.

I fired probably 100 or 150 rounds today. How often should I clean this rifle? Will I have to break the bolt down soon?

GREAT LOOKING RIFLE.
The more you shoot the better your grouping will be.
I cleaned my bolt when I first got it and one time when I had about 2500 rounds thru it. Both time it did not realy need to be cleaned.
I clean my rifles after each time at the range [ 100 to 200 rounds ]

Thanks for the kind replies. I was worried folks here would think I was crazy for buying this gun and setting it up like a baby sniper. But wow, I am having alot of fun with this CZ 452.
