Just recieved my C & R in the mail. Sure is a bunch of stuff to read. Any advice on what can be skipped? I remember that I should not sign my original certificate, but only sign the copies, and that I will need a better place than the one sent to record transactions. Where can you get the record logs. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

1) Read Everything--nothing may be skipped. Besides, it's fun.
2) You can make a legal log in a binder using the sample in the material atf provides or you can buy the 'store bought' kind from a bunch of sources. Doing a computer based one isn't advised. You need permission to do so.
3) Enter everything promptly the second you get it.

Red ink? I thought the recommendation was Blue Ink? I guess as long as it can be told that it is signed in ink and not a photo copy of your signature. Still have about 15 days before I should get mine.

Congratulations! They charged my CC the $30 back on August 15th, but I didn't get the license in my hand until Dec. 31st.

About how long is it taking these days after getting the paperwork in ?
Depends on what area of the country you are in.

Mine took 15 days mailbox to mailbox (that's including the weekends). Some States take much, much, longer. 3-4 months in some cases.

As a C&R holder myself,I can say,"your in trouble"!!
My first year was the worst, then it starts getting a little better.
It's still not great,as I spend way to much on "deals" on guns,as
well as ammo.
Wish you the best.

Hell, I'm still waiting for the ATF to answer a simple question before I can apply for mine...:fire:

Just renewed mine. The C&R license is worth the $30 even if you don't buy a C&R firearm. The money you save from midwayusa, brownells and a few others will pay you back in no time.

I've had my license for over 3 years now and have only purchased 3 C&R weapons. Don't ask me how, but I've shown restaint on the mil surp arms.

It took me 8 weeks to get mine.
Thanks Dr. Dickie for the info on where to order logs. I agree with you guys that I'll have to watch my budget or I'm doomed.
