I just bought John Taffin's new book; John Taffin's Book of Double-Action Sixguns. It is very well done and 474 pages long. The book has great illustrations and the chapters cover S&W, Colt, Ruger, Dan Wesson, Charter Arms, and Taurus DA revolvers. Haven't had a chance to read it fully yet, but I am looking forward to it.

I just got my copy yesterday. It doesn't contain a whole lot of unique material - much of it is taken from other books either directly or lightly rewritten. Most of the pictures are also taken from other editions. It is about what I expected, really: a compilation of his work on double action revolvers, with a bit of additional filler. I am glad to have it, but for a fellow who already has all his other books, the only real reason for getting it is so that you don't have to search through all his other stuff to find exactly what you are looking for.

Of course, if you don't have a good collection of his other books, this one can be your standard reference on the subject.

I have his books on the .44 and the .45. I found them to be good reading and they look sweet on the coffee table, too.

If this is primarily a compilation from those two earlier books, I may just pass on the new one. :(

Stay safe.

I bought it, and had it signed, directly from Mr. Taffin. He lives close by.

You are very lucky to live near Mr. Taffin.

I used to visit the old Sixgunner.com where he was a member. He always took the time to answer my rookie questions and provide guidance. Besides his extensive knowledge about firearms and reloading, he is a true gentleman.
