Made it out to Swan Creek today to dial in the scope I picked up in Birmingham at the Gunshow yesterday. It's a NcStar 3-9X42E. I got it for $50.00. What a deal! Anyway I took off the old Leapers and installed the new scope. I took it to the range with 100 rounds of Silver Bear 62 gr .223 ammo. After getting it dialed in at 50 yds I figured I could find paper at 100. At 100 it started out a little high but dialed in easily. Then it lost it's zero. I checked it and the single bolt and nut attaching it to the carry handle was getting loose. After tightening it as much as I could with my fingers (forgot my pliers) I shot this group.
I did mess up agian however. Ater I got home, I tried to tighten the nut with pliers and broke the bolt. Now I'll have to find a mounting bolt. The original had a hole drilled through it for a pin. The bolt didn't have enough strength left. Being that the pin is to hold the bolt in place while installing I think I can do without it on a replacement. Hopefully this will give it enough strength to properly tighten. Other than that I like the scope.
