60-4 5 shot 38 spec J frame with 3†target sights, Herret grips needs T grip, woods walking and outdoor activity gun.

13-4 3†K frame fixed sights, custom grips. Carry or IDPA
586- 4†L frame Much modified, lug ground off, front sight thinned, shortened target grips, semi round butted(similar to a J frame square butt), rear target sight corners rounded, cut for moonclips. For hunting or games.
Ruger
MKII competition model
Sistema 1911, good checked wood grips, replaced front sight with 1/8 wide serrated, widened the rear notch to square. 6 - 8 round mags.
Glock 19, nite sights 3 – 10 round mags, 2 – 15 mags @ my daughters home

Sold my 27-2 8 3/8s

What I want is a K, L, N frame gun with fixed sights and possibly moonclips that could be a decent carry gun,

Ideas I have

1. My idea of a Eastern Mt Gun, get a S&W 65-2 P&R 3†round butt, and have a mod 64 pencil barrel (I have 1) put on it and have the cylinder cut for moonclips.
Cost
65-2 $350
barrel installed ~ $100
cylinder cut for moonclips $75
I really do not care for stainless but this appeals to me for some reason. Alternate idea is just get a pencil barrel 64, there is one near me for $299

2. My idea of a thumper, Have my HD converted to 45 colt by Bowen, cost about $750 to $1000

3. Alternate thumper idea, Get a S&W 58, cost $ 600, plus dies, brass, bullets/mould. Possible conversion to 45 colt. If I got this I would thus save a HD from the dreaded conversion that collectors hate.

4. If I go to the alternate thumper I could sell the HD and get a Ruger Super Black Hawk Hunter in 45 colt. I have a 2x Leupold scope on my MKII that would fit this, would work for hunting deer and larger. But will be heavy and bulky.

5. Get a S&W 646 $550, plus dies, brass(range pickup), bullets. GAMER gun

6. Sell my 940 and get a 642 and make it into a 942 by putting a 940 barrel and cylinder on it.
Cost $250-300 for the gun
$90 for the barrel
$125 for the cylinder
~$200 for smith work

7. Get a S&W 325 3†that a local shop has $600. Cool IDPA toy/ carry gun.

So what should I do?
Does the 325 have a wrist breaking feel when shot? But I do not play any of the Gun games, yet….
Do I want to get a 41 mag and cast my own bullets and reload, I do that for 357.

If I get the 58 or if I convert the HD I could use either for carry and hunting.
The 325 or the 646 would be for games and carry.

Right now I carry my 13 or 940 and have the 586 set up for games or hunting. The 13 could be used in IDPA and the 586 in IPSC or ICORE.

What would you do????

I can assure you that you would never regret a Bowen conversion. They do great work and you would then have a true custom piece as a keepsake.

How about a 625 converted to .460 Rowland by Clark. Makes for a practical target/defense/hunting revolver.
