Gotta Knights Armament rail system! Need help!

I got a knights armament rail system for my Bushmaster m-4 and i am having trouble putting it on what am i doing wrong and what can i do to make it get on there? I am pulling the gas ring down and the top goes almost on and then stops and won't go anymore. i know the basic concept but it ain't working for me! Please help i need it!

Which do you have, the RIS (Rail Interface System, original version) or RAS (Rail Adapter System)?

By gas ring, do you mean the slip ring/delta ring at the back that holds the handguards on?

yeah the slip ring that is what i was trying for!

I have the model with the hex head key that tightens it down , i think it is the RAS.

You might check how well the halves fit together, if they fit tightly your delta ring might be a bit tight.

If you end up fitting anything, delta rings are cheap, so only remove material from that.
