Texas is a BIG state, Robert. You must be around Austin, or maybe one of the other metropolitan areas. More 30.07's in S. TX than 30.06 and not all that restrictive here IME (That, or we travel in different circles ;)).

Regards,
hps
Started in Leaky. No issues there other than spent the majority of my time in the Frio. San Antonio was a different story. Most places were not signed, just the ones we seemed to be in and the hotel we stayed at. Which is complete bovine excrement. 30.06 states you can carry to and from your room. If I get stopped I'd just say I was headed to my room or the car.

Corpus was not bad either, but we spent the majority of our time in the water so it was moot.

Back in San Antonio having dinner on the River Walk. The restaurant was not singed that I could see, and that is a requirement of the law. I'm carrying at the moment.

during a declared disaster or emergency.
We've been edging up to this for a while.
Two years ago, we, quietly, were given carry during Declared Emergencies.
HB 1500 appears (to this lay reader) to prevent arbitrary closing of gun stores and places selling ammunition by fiat during an Emergency.
The free carry is improved by SB 500 and by HB 1927.

One analysis that will need wrinkling out is that HB 1927 may obviate 30.05, 30.06, & 30.07 signage during an Emergency.
But this may only apply to facilities that are in use for evacuation or shelter purposes during a Declared Emergency. (Or, it's limitation if you offer up your facility that you cannot then enforce the signage--the AG will tell us.)

I quit looking for firearm prohibited signs in eating establishments years ago. I know being from out of state your cautious, and rightfully so being with your family, but truthfully very few people, IMO, care whether you conceal carry or not. You can carry a handgun in your vehicle here as long as it is hidden from view and you can legally buy & posses a firearm.

Most places prohibited by statute from carrying I avoid or never patronize anyway. I know better than to carry where it's a 3rd degree felony like courthouses and schools. To me not carrying in a hotel is just foolish. I always have and always will.

Enjoy your stay here. I see you have hit some great places. If you have time on the way back and are going up I-35 from San Antonio take Hwy 12 west out of San Marcos to Hwy 32 and travel the Devils Backbone. Just awesome country with great views.
