I have a 3" Ruger GP100 that is awesome, however, it is a fixed sight gun. Anyone know of a gunsmith who could install an adjustable rear sight on it? I know I have seen them somewhere (or maybe it was on an SP101) but I cannot remember where.

Cylinder and slide in Fremont NE will/can do this work.

I think Bowen makes the adjustable rear sight for it. If they make the sight I'd imagine they could install it.

Ruger made a limited run of 3" barrel, full lug, GP100s with adjustable sights. They come up for sale about once a year on gunbroker. Usually sell for about $700.

I decided that by the time I put the extra work into it I would be better off buying a 3" S&W model 686.

I got one of those 3" adjustable-sight GP100s, in minty condition, from a local dealer. It is my avatar on another forum. I have no earthly idea how to make photos appear on this forum.

Hoenstly, any very good gunsmith ought to be able to do something like that. Blayglock- don't give up on the Ruger. it's not even an expensive job.

personally I'd go with dlsports and have it done, they cost alittle more if I remember right but they can instal s&w style front and rear sights on just about any gun

Jim Stroh of Alpha Precision ( www.alphaprecisioninc.com ) can do this. Bowen makes a sight for S&W's and this would be easier to mount than one designed for Rugers. Not much is required other than a little milling and drilling. The pictures I have seen show sights on SP-101s so if it can be done on them the GP should be no problem at all.

I've got a 3" GP with the old style grip. I had an XS standard dot front night sight installed and it makes a world of difference. It would take a real financial emergency for me to get rid of it.
