That was a deal on the Italian rifle! Those rifles were scarce when I was a kid. We are talking about a bygone era. That's then this is now. You speak of the German military trainers . Those were light rifles with full length stock. The Mauser match rifles were larger and heavier. The 1922 was a match rifle. I'm surprised that nobody called my hand on the introduction of the Model 52 Winchester in 1920. The 1922 still rules.

You gotta do a bunch of looking generally. Look for anybody dealing guns just the opposite of what you want. Also check out pawn shops. I was shopping in a store the did the mall ninja trade. He sold me a useless long slide made for 03 Springfield Lyman 48 Sight for $25.00. Also got a nice Danish rolling block military for $250.00. You can get lucky or you can make yourself successful. Many years ago I bought for cheap a 1903 in a 1922 NRA stock. Got another later same same except it was for a 03-A4. All sort of stuff out there. On the downside there are fewer bargains.
