Nothing like a Tanfoglio.

X Calibur and other Grand Powers are seen quite often in competition in Europe.

Quality guns as they've always been.

For those that don't know know. STI was the first importer. Sold it as a GP6.

Also. Only the Witness PS sells for around $250. That price point also has little to do with quality.
Ever see a Gold Team, or a Hunter?

Yeah the design on these is quite a bit different than the Tanfo - the barrel on this uses a rotating locking system similar to the Beretta Storm to lower the bore axis.

That being said, Tanfoglio guns themselves are all the rage in competition over here right now. Ben Stoeger has been shooting a Stock II for a bit and tons of people are switching to that direction.

The factory slide lightening cuts on this do intrigue me, but I'm still not ready to embrace DA/SA on my competition gun personally (I'm still shooting an M&P 9L).

Handled a Grand Power for the first time a couple of days ago. a 45. Both DA and SA trigger pulls were amazing, as was super-short reset. Made me want one.

Not a looker, but sure felt good. Owner showed me some incredibly small groups he shot with it also.

EAA/Tangofilo Witness polymer...which retails for $250

I'd pay 250 for this one(x-caliber), not sure if I'd go to much over that tho. What's the current retail on them?

1kperday, mine should be in about 2wks. I purchased the gpk100 full size when first introduced to the U.S market since 2011 and still have it. Got hooked since then, I have owned glocks/2 czp07/steyr /fns LS, the only one I kept is the GP. Your right it's no looker, but people who do their research and look beyond on its looks will be rewarded what they find:)

The importer is Eagle. Same one that imports Bersa and Metro Arms . While working the Eagle display I had a chance to handle . These fine pistols. These are going to be looked for as soon as word get out about how well built and accurate they are. . Best get one before the coming rush.

I have already added a section on Bersachat.com for them Will be looking for their own board down road.

Saw one for $850 in our lgs one older gentleman was looking for a soft shooting 9 mm and the owner steered him to it. It was not easy to field strip. Taking it apart was not too bad , reassembling it was a little tougher. You tubing it afterwards it appears there was a change in the design. Previous ones had a hinging trigger guard.

Around $900. It's pretty much a specialty competition gun.

I see. I will say it looks like it has some cool external features like the slide cuts and fluted barrel. But for almost 1k I don't see it doing very well as there are a lot of good options in the US that it has to compete with. Now if it came with a threaded barrel and the slide was already milled for a red dot for 900 bucks I think people would consider it for an Open build.

Supposedly GP was going to bring a 10mm model into the U.S. market. As GP has various models of autoloaders, I assume it would look something like their .45

If they ever do, it'll be interesting to compare the quality of GP's 10mm to Tanfoglio's Witness line. :scrutiny:

Having owned booth, I think the Grandpowers are higher quality guns than Tanfoglios. Like forged steel v. castings. They have great triggers too.

Thanks for that follow-up. Good to know. We'll see if GP can get a 10mm model here.

Had been hoping to see a Turkish-made Sarsilmaz K2 in 10mm, but probably never will since EAA is the importer for the Sars and it would compete with Tanfoglio's 10mm-line.

I was under the impression Sarsilmaz was setting up their own importer here under the name SAR ARMS.

Would open up their whole catalog to us.

They have some really cool stuff.

Including a Waltheresq striker fired SA gun available in 45acp.

Note that while it has the paddle mag release it also has a manual safety rather than a top mounted decocker. Interesting.

Interesting.

Just FYI, but the .45acp K2s I handled at a LGS appeared robust and well-made. Nicely finished, at least externally. Reports I've read were mostly positive regarding function and accuracy.

Also, the LGS's .45 K2s (EAA imports) had frame-mounted thumb safeties for C&L carry. At the link Armor Snail provided, if you click on the "K2" tab, the models shown have a slide-mounted decocker, looking a bit like the old Jericho pistols.

Back on topic on the GP x-calibur

Another great video on the GP/CEO/Founder

Pretty cool that every pistol is completely built by 1 craftsman, and upon finishing will have his/her stamp on the pistol:cool:

More info on the X, SA=3lbs....DA=6lbs, heard it comes with 3 different sets of springs/rates for different weight of bullets.
