Yesterday my 6 year old grandson was over while, my daughter was getting some work done to her car, we bought him a used razor electric scooter to ride. He rode the battery dead, he wanted to drive my sub in the muddy parking lot, OK no problem, but then we saw a woodchuck.

That was all it took for him to want to hunt, with the bb gun for a Chuck. Well the Chuck refused to show himself so we put the rifles back in my cabinet. Then he asked if we could shoot his Marlin m 60 in the yard, well being in the city limits I said no.

He says how about going to the range you shoot at so I can shoot my gun. OK, great, but you have to ask momma if it's OK. When she arrived he neat me down stairs to ask. She agreed to let him go then called my SIL to make sure it was alright with him.

We started gathering all of my range gear 3 rifles, my pistol, targets... Then made the 20 min drive.

The place was vacant, he looked out to the 300 meter backstop and says wow look at how far those targets are. He saw empty casings and wanted to clean up some, especially the shotgun shells. I was more interested in the 9mm and 223 brass. Anyway I got him set up at 25 yds with his 22 lr with 5 rounds. The gun is really too big for him, but so are my bb guns. He put 3 out of 5 in the black with 1 in the 10 ring. Then wanted to shoot my m11 223. I set it up with 1 round that he also put in the black 9 ring. I didn't let him shoot my 9 or my Ar because it was cold and he was shivering. So we packed up and left, but he wanted to make sure that I grabbed his target and his shotgun shells.

On the way home I asked him several questions. He liked the 223 best because it pushed back more than the 22 and it was louder. He liked the 22ore than the bb guns because it pushed back and was louder. Over all it was a great day and a blast for him even though the round count was low.

Sounds like a great day with quality time with your grandson, doesn't get any better than that.

Coming from NY previously myself, my thought would be your pass on transferring a pistol was probably a good idea.
