Finally got my new stock 10/22 sighted-in with a basic BSA fixed 4x-30 scope on the last trip, so this one was all about lettin' it rip with the long mags and multiple targets. Best part was having both 25-rnd mags (Butler Creek; one hotlips, one steel) work without a hiccup; it's cool how they fit together tightly for the quick-flip mag switch. 50 rounds rattled off fast!

Only one fte with bulk Remington ammo, which was the most surprising part. Winchester Wildcat (unplated) seemed a small cut above (didn't even take the Federal bulk ammo, which is the best of the bulk stuff I've found). Not that these are any real feats of arms, but it was refreshing to get really good performance out of basic components and cheapie ammo. A plinker's delight!

Had some fun adding cross-hatches, etc. to some rifle sight-in targets with grids before I went, and it was a ball picking 'em off one by one. Can't wait to go back for more low-cost entertainment.

I have found out that I usually have more fun shooting .22s than I do shooting most other stuff-- not sure if it is the easiness on the shoulder, my wallet, or what, but .22s get the most work-- especially my 10/22 (ease of reloading due to mags) and my Heritage RR (SAs are just plain fun)--

Congrats on the fun!:)

tju, any recommendations on mags? I've found a reliable 10/22 mag to be worth more than the price, mainly because anything that causes problems just brings the fun to a screeching halt.

Feel like I got lucky with both mags I mentioned. The factory mags are worth it for that reason, but 10 rounds just go by so quick!

I've seen other folks' set-ups with a 'cartridge' sleeve on the stock designed to hold 5 or 6 factory rotary mags.

I love my Marlin 60, I actually prefer the tube feed. 14 rounds and no magazines to buy. I've shot no telling how many rounds w/o a misfire or jam.

Mags? I have just the "hot lips" Butler creeks I picked up at Academy and a couple of Ruger factory 10 rounders-- Mine have been good so far..

My first 22 was a MArlin 60, and is still my "go to " squirrel rifle, but the 10/22 is fun-- mine is just plain Jane black synt Ruger stock-- haven't tacticooled mine yet, but I probably will---

some are better than others! Going away frustrated with a new purchase is not as good as getting better ammo for that purchase, sighting it in, and watching better results appear on the paper. Couple that with ripping thru a ton of bulk ammo with no problems with mags or bullets (well, one) and that's a heckuva day on the range. And for cheap!:D
