I need some help in identifying or rather evaluating a German made handgun that I inherited from my Father almost 30 years ago. I don't have a clue as to where he got it. It is a very good carrying piece because of its size.
It is a 7.65 mm. I'm using 32 auto ammo. It is fully functional and shoots very good. Markings are: On left side is DEUTSCHE WERKE (a large D symbol--the d is what appears to be a lion like critter with a long sweeping tail) WERK ERFURT.
On the right side on the barrel it says Cal. 7.65mm. Also on the right side it says ORTGIES PATENT. Also there is a horizontal N and a crown just behind the trigger. The serial number and the word Germany is on the bottom of the frame. It has walnut flat grips with the above mentioned lion symbol in brass in both grips. It also has the factory clip because it also has the symbol stamped on it. Out of curiosity, I would like to know something about this gun.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gee, is it THIS?:
http://ortgies.net/

I hope not, because a Google search for 'ortgies 32' returned 21,900 results in .18 seconds.

The Ortgies 32 and 25 are exceedingly common, but well made pistols. In good condition it is worth about $250.

That's it!!

Gee thanks, mr. trooper, this is the only info. that I've seen on this gun. Mine is yet a little different than either one of the pics. in that the cat is affixed to the grip instead if the other symbol, but it is almost identical. Thanks, you've been a great help.
