Grips (ivory?) for blued snubbie???

I just traded my 78 Yamaha 1100xs for, among cash and some other things, a Taurus M85 2" .38. It is (was) NIB and dosn't (didn't ) even have a cylinder ring. The little thing shoots great. Never been a fan of Taurus revolvers, but this is actualy a fairly nice gun...tight, accurate, and smooth. My only problem is, I HATE the grips. They are ugly and feel like a plow handle. Since it shoots good and the bluing is in such good shape, I thought I might treat it to a new set of stocks...any suggestions/pictures? Im actualy thinkings about faux ivory...everyone needs a pimp gun right? If anyone has any pics of blue snubbies w/ fake ivory grips I would love to see 'em....or other alternatives.


Also...anyone have any guessed as to the guns age? S# ND89XXX, there is also a number 48xx iside the yoke.

I have a pair of simulated Ivory grips for my Lightweight Commander and they are great! If I can, I'll try to post a pic later tonight.

I also rather like the grips as is.
I've not held that exact type, but it looks concealable (maybe not important for you) and like it'd fill the palm well.
But, I know what it's like to wanna change the look, so, in your case I'd get some nice Spegel's or Eagles with fine figure and rich color. Maybe a deep cherry or mahagoney (sp?).
Mmmm, blackwood's nice too.

Normaly I like wood grips...but I want something different. I like the size of the grips, but a slight palm swell would make them much more comfortable.

Atticus, trust me, the picture gives the fit and finish of the wood more credit than its due. IMHO, this wood is simply butt ugly.



*anybody have the website for Craig Spegel? I'm not above having multiple sets of grips for one gun...especialy a wheelgun*

I bought a set of faux ivory stocks for a Python that fit perfectly and look all right. I'd have preferred real ivory, but am reluctant to invest more in stocks than the firearm itself. One of the emerging trends in exotic stocks is woolly mammoth ivory, also rather pricey.

There's nothing pimp-esque about ivory, by the way. If it was good enough for Patton, it's good enough for me.
