I almost bought a Ruger Vaquero with fake Ivory grips.
Very pretty against the contrast of the blued gun.
But the grips felt a little slippery in my hand.
I need opinions on these grips.

Thanks

they're supposed to be kinda slippery

so at recoil the gun rolls up in your hand

setting your thumb up to cock the hammer again.

actually works pretty good.

I have a bisquero .44 mag with fake ivories.
The grips cracked with regular loads the second week.
Not really a crack, just a small chip.
I bought a really nice pair of ajax black pearl (Fake) grip panels, and put them on.
Within a week, it developed a small chip in the same spot.
That gun rarely gets shot any more.
My birdshead micarta has had similar treatment for longer, and is still flawless.

I don't know about the factory fake ivory but I had a setof ivorex grips start developing hairline cracks about a year after i put them on. Took a couple of tries to get Buffalo horn grips that really fit well and now I'm happy.

The ruger factory faux Ivory looks cool to me, esp. with the ruger medallions.
