:) well i'm brand new here. Getting back to bp after 20yrs or so. got married, had a baby girl, all grown up now so i got father's day and birthday presents. got $1000.00 money owed so long i forgot heh heh.

I know, brass frames aren't the best, but gifts are gifts. So now i have matching 1958 Remington 44's, and matching 1851 Army 44's, two belts, four holsters, spare cylinder for each type, and a nice looking Pedersoli 10 gauge double barrel that's probably the longest shotgun in California. I need to brush up on all this so came here and glad i did.

Had a 44 Rem replica when i was 19, later built a percussion cap derringer, maybe a kentucky style kit, and a flintlock brass blunderbuss kit whooee that was fun to shoot. California seems a mite touchy about firearms... we're looking for a shooting range but i got all this stuff and all the goodies to go with so i need some hep on the shotgun... looks like an elephant gun. will swap out pistols as appropriate with steel frames.

any advice on this shotgun or on anything for that matter concerning bp knowhow very welcome and much appreciated. Thanks for being here.

I'm pretty sure you came to the right place.
Pull up a chair next to the warm glow of your monitor and dig in!

I just got a '87 winchester repro. lever action shotgun and am sorting it out. So far it shoots great with the same BP loads I had been using in my SxS. That being 4.3cc of 2F goex and a red wad under 1oz of 7 1/2 shot. It seems that there was an issue on the first imports with using plastic hulls and BP. One of the mods was to bore to 11.5 gauge. They have had a ongoing updating of some of the parts and I must have a barrel chamber that is opened up, because I have no problems at all with AA hulls.
I plan to shoot another match with it this weekend after shortening stock a bit and I hope it helps, because I was having a time with the long lever throw.
