GUNS!

CR2.jpg

Top to bottom: Russian capture German Mauser

Czech VZ-24 Mauser

Mosin Nagant m91/30

Mosin Nagant M44

All are very cool, this C&R license is great. Everything but the russian capture are in pretty damn good condition, and there is nearly no cosmoline on them from what I can tell, but I might have been desensitized by my Yugo SKS, pre C&R license.

One also has a serial number with 1776 stamped very prominently!

I need to get a bigger brush for cleaning the Mausers, but I cleaned out the bore on the m91/30 and took it to the range. Used Wolf ammo since I wasn't planning a huge range session,

Got there, and realize I forgot my rest too, darnit. And forgot the blanket I use to make shooting prone somewhat more comfortable when I'm wearing a t-shirt.

Well, not much sight adjustment needed anyway, I set up some "silhouette" targets that were suggested in the target thread in general discussion, and proceeded to just have fun taking out them evil silhouettes. My dad was with me and I realize now I he needs to shoot the .22 more heh, since he isn't a very good shot, especially not when he fears the recoil.

Speaking of recoil, I didn't find it so bad, is the surplus Czech silvertip I have any harder kicking than wolf, since I haven't tried it yet?

Well, here are some pictures from the range trip. I'll try to see just how accurate it is another time, but hey, I didn't miss, and I called my "fliers"!

There's my dad with the gun. He isn't a shooter, though he gets mistaken for the experienced one when we go to the range together, based on age alone.

As you can see, the silhouette was very mean and scary, and had to be eliminated. He was hopped up on PCPs, thus the multiple shots necessary.

And if anyone wants to complain about my tacti-cool camo, it should be noted I was wearing rubber garden clogs, which are most tactical on a hot humid day.

Oh yes, and if anyone else gets a russian capture 98k, be careful for that front sight, it is SHARP!

Hitler draws blood once again, damn him!

I'm not sure what pre-VRA is or I'm having a brainfart.
The RC Mauser is a mix of parts, receiver date 1940, no cleaning rod or bayonet or front sight hood since that's how the russians rebuilt them.

I just wanted a german gun, since my Mom is German, her father fought on the wrong side. The Czech mauser is because my dad's parents were Czech

I was looking for one with the "rampant lion" receiver crest, but those all seem to have dried up :(

It should have been because Brno had better steel and btter quality control of any other factory that made Mausers.

The VZ24s are the best Mausers.

(In my not-very humble opinion, of course. The fact that the Masuer my grandfather left me is a VZ24 has nothing to do with it;)

I ordered the German from Empire Arms, the Czech from aimsurplus, and the mosins from Aztec.

I sent my application in on January 29th I believe, and just got the license recently. Had an interview with an ATF inspector as per NY state law, which was a waste of time for probably anyone on here looking for your C&R license, as I knew everything he was talking about already. But he was professional and it was a minor hassle.

Seeing that stack of loooooong boxes is a nice sight though! All that time waiting kept me from buying other guns too, so I had enough cash heh.

Getting my CMP stuff together now. This C&R license is great! (My bank account disagrees).

Gifted,

I got the idea from a thread in general discussion the other week about unconventional targets.

My personal touch was the scary face

Guns? What guns?

I just collect long skinny boxes that UPS occasionally drops off :D  .

Looks like a nice start to your box collection too ;) .

Nice range and pictures. I wish we had ranges like that here, trees and green and stuff.

No its just sand and cactus.

HEY ...that's my shipment!! :D
Actually, if you substitute an M-38 for the German Mauser, it's the 4 boxes I got a while back. Great group of rifles! Nice range too.
