Considering that this forum is owned by a gun phtographer (And a damn fine one if I do say so myself), I believe that a thread containing artfully-constructed photographs/paintings/drawings of firearms, or firearms which stand out as particularly pleasing in the looks department should exist at any given moment.

That being said, here we go.

Yeah, part of the fleet I shot on a slate table. The gold tint was purely accidental. Didn't take much work to optomize that one.

This one, on the other hand, took eight hours in Photoshop to bring up to spec. The Desert Eagle may be a lousy carry gun, but it sure makes for some good photos.

I generally do take more airplane pictures, but for a while there I was doing quasi-technical drawings of favorite small arms. So far, these are the only two I've really put any effort into organizing.

I haven't done any art per se, but I do quite a bit of technical drawing:
WolverineShotgun2.jpg
A 12-Gauge automatic shotgun based on the G3. :D
AKR-7.62x512.jpg
A 7.62N rifle based on the AK. :)
KodiakSniper2.jpg
A .408CT sniper rifle based on the G3.
MannJager12Gauge2.jpg
A sawed-off 12 Gauge shotgun ("shotpistols", I call them). :what:
MauserK.30Carbine2.jpg
A .30 Carbine machine pistol based on the C-96. :scrutiny:
Mustang.41M2.jpg
My personal favorite, a .41 Magnum revolver with lineage to the GP-100.

Most of these are kinda old, but they're still good, I think. All of them are drawn with pencil and paper and cleaned up in Paint.

I try to make a living as a photographer, the key word being try. Its more of a hobby now that graphic design has proved to be more lucrative. Most of my stuff is more commercial than artistic, guess I'll have to dig up the ol' artist in me and take some crafty pictures of my guns.

In the meantime these will have to do.....

HA! Found one of my old ones, this is more gun art....
Of course this is not my gun, I photographed for legendary gunsmith Fred Wells a few years ago....his passing was a great loss to the gun world:(
I'll see if I have anymore still on my computer. This was back when I was shooting 4x5 film and a lot of the images never got digitized. I must have more hiding out on my computer somewhere, I'll post more if I can find them.

Subscribing ...

Nothing to post ... yet,
but I like the concept of a gun art thread.

Here's a question related to that.
Not meant to be argumentative or difficult,
but genuinely interested:

What's the difference between gun "art" and gun "porn"?

We have LOTS of "post your pics of your XXX" here.

But this one feels different.

Yet, there's that gray area between ...

How do we know gun "art" when we see it?

Like I said, just curious.

Will watch with interest,
and hopefully contribute.

Gun porn would be showing a field-sripped Beretta here.

The focus is not women holding guns or anything, it's the weapon in and of it's self, at least here.

My 1911, a bit of rum, and some amoxicillin (antibiotics) to push the "outlaw" image here. The title is "Outlaw's Gun" after all.

Here is the only one I have here at work on my computer, but I like it for being shot with a cheezy Digicam and think the background is right for the way the gun looks.

I have some more gun related tattoos but I dont think they qualify for this thread.

What kinds of programs do you all use? Like photshop type programs? Anything that isn't a huge purchase? (I've been looking at photoshop prices and they are 650 to 999 depending on versions. Any good quality free software?

I use a limited version of Adobe Photoshop 5.0 that I got free with...something. I forget what, exactly.
