what is a good belt for the money? how good are the daltech force The RoughCut® Bull Hide, Tan belt. thanks

I haven't heard of them so I couldn't tell you.

I've never seen any negative comments (well, other than people ordered the wrong size) about some of the well known options already listed in this thread such as The Beltman, A&G Custom Leather, RG Leather, etc., and in nylon The Wilderness Tactical. It would be hard to go wrong with any of those. It's your call if you want to try something different.

For the OP, DFisher3112, how as your new belt worked out?

Aker Leather model B-21.....I have been using their stuff for over 29 years now and it is made is San Diego County.

If interested anything aker leather let me know and I can save you 20% off of retail.

I have been wearing an Beltman belt daily since October of 2012.

Same here. I own two belts made by theBeltman. I had him include the stiffener in both belts. Matter-of-fact, he resized one of the belts by shortening it 4" and currently has my other belt to do the same. Jim is a good guy and prides himself in producing long lasting belts!

I actually make my own. Have not quite busted into doing it full scale for profit yet but I am dabbling. Here is one I made 2 years ago and have alternated with my Beltman ever since. It shows some wear but not as much as the Beltman.

The basketweave is one I just made. I made two exactly alike. One for a customer and one for me to just look at because it turned out so nice. Ill probably put it on Etsy.

Both of these are made of horse hide witch is tough and stiff as heck and will last forever if taken care of even infrequently.

I am a forever fan of horse hide. If the Rock Steady belt was made of horse hide it would go from a great belt to a true masterpiece of semi custom haberdashery. The great benefit of horse hide is that it is denser, harder, stiffer, and thus just plain stronger. You can have a thinner belt made from horse and have just the same amount of stiffness and strength as a comparable but thicker cowhide belt.

I have one 1 1/2 inch belt made by TT Gunleather and one1 1/2 inch belt made by The Beltman. Both are high quality and work well. You can't go wrong with either.

If you fellas like horse hide belts, you owe to yourself to try an elephant hide belt. I have one from Bullhide belts and I must say it is not only comfortable, holds any weapon I carry including a full size all steel 1911, and is stylish to boot. You wouldn't feel out of place wearing this one to a BBQ or church for that matter.

Tommy Theis' Jake Belt. About $60 and AWESOME quality. I have had it for about a year, wear it EVERYday with a gun hangin gon it nearly always and it has NOT sagged or given at all.

I have put a few scratches in it removing my metal clips for my hybrid holster but no fault of the product.

Great product, great price, AMAZING CS.

Yes sir, I saw the comment by armoredman but I was actually referring to my own experiences with the Rock Steady and you are right, it is available in horse. Very good. Unfortunately it appears there is a hefty premium placed on their horse hide belts compared to say Belt Man or A&G. $100 compared to $160 is large margin compared to the $20 margin of Belt Man or $10 margin of A&G.

I'm not turning this into a price war either. I am pointing out the marginal price difference only. The bullhide Rock Steady I have is every bit the belt of the bullhide Belt Man I still wear occasionally. It appears their horse hide option puts the price up into the realm of exotic leathers though.

Is that too much to pay for a "true masterpiece of semi custom haberdashery"?;)

All kidding aside, I agee. High Noon puts a lot of premium on their horsehide products. While I like High Noon's stuff in general, the thing that has always scared me away from the Rock Stead belt it the thickness of their belts. It is this picture I found a while back showing how much thicker than a Beltman belt.

It is down near the bottom of this for sale thread. Not mine, and I'm sure this stuff has been sold long ago, but it shows just how thick the Rock Steady belt.

Even though I like that thickness I think it is incroaching on diminishing returns for most folks.

For what it's worth, I highly recommend A Better Belts. http://abetterbeltusa.com/ Excellent belt, unbelievable delivery time for a custom belt (got my custom belt 8 days after I placed the order!) and the customer service goes far and above super. Husband and wife team and they truly aim to please.

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum. I've been looking for a good EDC belt myself. I've been drooling over the Cobra Riggers Belts by Snake Eater Tactical. They leave an opening behind the buckle to clip into instead of the traditional V-ring. It looks way more comfortable. Plus they have cool stitch patterns. Anyone have any experience with this company?

I don't, but the flat, bent metal buckle on that belt seems like it would get uncomfortable; I'm not convinced that a space between two folds of webbing would be as secure as the dedicated buckle of the Wilderness, although I admittedly don't have any climbing experience.

The way I see it, the V-ring is sewn in between the two layers of webbing. So by deleting it and clipping a carabiner in the same spot would be just as strong. The Snake Eater belts look really well made, plus there is a Youtube video of them testing one in a lab.

While I'm not a fan of them, lots of guys like the Cobra buckle.

Once you are geared up, it is just a quick snap to undo your belt. On the other hand you need to remove the buckle from the belt to thread your gear onto the belt and to put the belt through the belt loops. I consider the latter a bigger inconvenience than the former is a convenience.

I prefer the Wilderness Instructor Belts http://www.thewilderness.com/tactical-belts/

While I have the standard 5 stitch instructor belt, if I were to order today, I'd probably order the 5 stitch Frequent Flyer belt.
