gun case compromised / air travel

mfree I never said it was better or worse to ship your firearms to yourself, merely that it was lawful to do so.

Having been a travelling musician for most of my life I have flown all over the country with musicial instruments and firearms.
I remember the good old days when I just put my handguns in my suitcase, checked them and went about my business. I still think a Common Carrier Concealed Permit is a great idea (no wise cracks about the initials) so we could travel by plane or train WITH our guns.

I have had my video cameras examined for about 15 years now. Same for my laptop. 9/11 really didn't change that proceedure much.

Penn Gillette (of Penn & Teller) in one of his monthly articles for PC Magazine backin the early 1990s wrote of his laptop, that when booted, would immediately display a message to the effect of, "Self Destruct sequence initiated..." and then there was a countdown that ended with Windows 3.1 starting. (Penn was a little critical of Windows 3.1) And if you've seen their act you know Penn has a wicked sense of humor.
Apparently his sense of humor wasn't shared by the airport screener who had him turn on his laptop and he spend the better part of an entire day in the "bowels" of the airport.
