Gun/CCW friendly jobs

Looking ahead to the future...

Any companies or particular jobs you have worked that were open to concealed carry? Or open carry if called for, ie. LEO, Security, bodyguard.

I just want to hear some thoughts of what you guys have done, and what is good, and what should be kept away from.

If a job is friendly towards open carry, chances are you won't want the job. In other words, they let you carry a gun because they think you'll probably need it. (The exception would be gun shops.)

As for concealed carry, the best/easiest option seems to be to find a company that has no written policy with respect to firearms, and then "don't ask, don't tell." There are more companies like this than you would think, in particular small/medium-size businesses that don't have middle managers with nothing better to do than write bloated employee policy handbooks.

Consider Law Enforcement. We need more honorable men who understand the citizen's right to keep and bear arms.

As far as gun-friendly, I get to strap on my HK USP45F/SS to my hip and a G26 concealed, everyday for work. Your job becomes using your judgement whether or not to spare people from the criminal injustice system. If you've ever thought "the state" decides who goes to jail or not you're wrong- it's guys and gals like you and me who decide. The more of "us" who wear blue the better...

I had one job where we carried loaded M16s. The pay was lousy and the hours tended to be very long between days off. Otherwise not bad. USN nuclear weapons security guard.

I don't care what the policy might be. My life is of infinitely greater value than any job.

I think the best chance is to adapt the Bill Klinton Navy policy of "Don't ask, don't tell" and just ccw to work.

Of course, I hope I open up a company in the future.. and make sidearms manditory

WhoKnowsWho, look in gun friendly sates too. I know when I moved to the west, the first day I was at work we had a conversation about shooting, and lunch time turned in to an impromptu gun show, my boss and the general manager included in the parking lot.

Never would have happened in MAS.

Same in Dallas, we had several people that CCW at work, boss too. I thank that the general populace and laws have allot to do with the acceptance of CCW.

Any job, except as a fed. killer (fbi, atf, etc..), that allows you to carry a gun has lousy pay. LEO, Security guard for an amored car company, etc.. If you really wish to carry a gun and have an open season on people, become a fed.

As a nightclub manager I always carried. Even kept a BHP as a loaner in case a bouncer forgot to carry.

I remember one job interview when I was asked if I carry, I told him I only had a .38 on me for the interview but I carry a .45 when working. I got the job.

Two more years my friend. i can't wait, i am so ready to be done with school. so i can start making a life for myself. and i believe that some sort of law enforcement is the way for me.

RTFM that's the way the shop i work at is like. we have machined up at least a dozen AR 15 Recievers. i bought my first gu off a guy at work someone is always getting something new and bringing it in.

I am a bit physically unfit for the LEO position, nor is the department hiring now.

I am looking at an inbetween job that pays well and will get me in shape (truck driver in the sun/delivery) and then the LEO could be a very viable option.

I'm an armed courier. I dress however I wish and I drive my own, unmarked vehicle. Pay is by the job, not by the hour, so the more runs I can pack into the least amount of time, the better. My company is nationwide, PM me if you want the name.

I'm actually working for a company now that favors ccw. The bad thing is that due to the location we can't legally carry in the main building where I work. All other areas of the business are fair game.
