It seems that my gun collection usually "flip flops" on me every couple of years. I used to have a pile of hanguns, now I'm down to a couple left for just concealed carry use. Instead I've got a good amount of Military style semi auto firearms now. Now I'm watching it as it's starting to slowly morph towards bolt action C&R type weapons. This started with the M44 Russian and soon to be picked up Remington M1917. Today I caught myself looking for a No4 Mk1 Enfield and calling a contact on a beautiful No1. :D

Anyone find this happening to their collections also?

Strays... cats, dogs and guns.

Nope. Mine's pretty stable. It keeps growing but hardly anything ever leaves.

I like 1911s. I've sold off a couple of them but usually I just keep on getting more and more. I like CZs and EAAs but they tend to come and go. Rifles I'll buy, shoot and then a good deal will come along on a similar or superior rifle and I'll sell the other ones. I'd hate to think of how many heavy barrel 308s I've sold. Sold a bunck of Savages as well.

Overall, in the last two years, I've bought more rifles than I had the 8 years prior but like I said, I've sold off a bunch of them. On a couple threads I've mentioned that I would gladly trade the 12 or so non-MilSurp rifles I have for maybe three excellent quality rifles.

My collection generally remains constant between the categories. This is due to me being a compulsive shopper, buying anything I happen to come across and really want, provided there happens to be some money in my pocket, of course.

I'm forever in search of the three perfect weapons; the handgun, rifle, and shotgun that will satisfy me.

They don't exist, so I've been quite the horse trader. I just don't like the idea of having weapons I don't shoot much, go figure.

Believe me, at some point in time you'll regret selling anything in your collection. Being that I'm in CA, I'll probably never be able to own the Galils, HKs, PolyAKs and AUGs I once owned :banghead: unless I move out of this state....

I never sell and I can't pass up a good deal. That explains the 11 870's I have. And all the guns I have vacuum packed as it was to much to keep on their rustproofing.

i'm an accumulator, not a collector.

i've only sold 3 guns, ever, and these were guns i was extremely dissatisfied w/.

my 'collection' has branched out to include other types of guns, but nothing ever leaves anymore.

Wow..I'm surprised at the number of folks who don't sell anymore. I'm sure that is a good policy, given the way things are going these days.

Still, I just can't resist trading an old favorite for a new love. Even after I vow to never sell again, another one a new rifle or handgun comes along to tempt me.

My "collecting" themes change as various factors come into play ($ available, what C&R's are on the market, what is on consignment at my favorite dealer, etc.). However the total # of the accumulation/collection/arsenal (depending on who is defining it (wife/me/ATF, media)) is growing. I try to add at least 3 to the collection for every one that leaves (funny how it works out that I also have three kids.....).
