Yes, because MG-42s were used in the first "Star Wars" movie, (watch for stormtroopers carrying them in the desert), they're a favorite of obsessive scifi geeks. Kind of ironic that all those WWII MGs, even Sterlings and all as well, were running around Elstree Studios...in the UK, back then. Now, I suppose they'd have to evacuate half the nation if someone found one on a set.
And that looks like one of those fake plastic MG42 stock things that Sportsman's Guide and others had for the 10/22, yes.
