Awesome letter and I’m glad this guy and his family are okay. I hope that no charges are brought against him and if they do it’s a fast open and shut case. I love when stories like this happen in gun ban areas as I feel it shines light on the ridiculousness of the stupid bans.

To paraphrase a sig line around here somewhere.....It appears that the city elders think the homeowner would be more respectable lying dead in a pool of blood surrounded by his dead family :barf: :fire: than having used a gun to defend his family. Shotgun seems to be the key in this case. :neener:

In Michigan, the courts have held that your deck is also your home. A fellow in Cedar Springs, Michigan killed a drunken cretin who kept approaching the doorway of the man's bedroom across the deck. The homeowner told him he had a gun and to go away or he'd shoot him. He kept coming and muttering threats so he did.

Unfortunately the cretin's family is suing the homeowner, and he had to move out of town. I don't know what the outcome of the lawsuit is, or was.

The story about the young girl waking her parents up and them not believing her reminds me of myself. I was a real scardy-cat as a child. I had night mares and my Dad never complained but would come and carry me around sometimes for 2 hours. I always hollered for him every night-----There's someone under my bed or it woudld be someone in the closet. I feel he went to his bedroom and just waited for me to call him before closing his eyes. He always came. Never complained =====looked under the bed and in the closet and reassured me all was well and he would protect me. One night I told him someone was knocking on the window frame. He put his handgun in his holster and went outside to see. Sure enough a drunk man had run out of gas and was knocking on my window frame. My Dad laughed got the guy some gas and all was well. I have never been a scardy cat since my Dad gave me my first handgun at age 18. He is no longer with us but his lessons I learned well. :)
