But by the mid-2000s, the federal government stopped asking the questions, leaving researchers to rely on much smaller surveys, like the General Social Survey, which is conducted by NORC, a research center at the University of Chicago.
I think this says everything we need to know about the article and its underlying study.

I think the obvious answer would be stopping by your local gun store and having a look around. That would tell quite a different story.

My sampling is limited but for the past 5 years, for my neighborhood/work/ friends/family/city, gun ownership has climbed significantly verified by LGS/range staff and city/county permit numbers (record setting sales and permits).

Even the liberals/Democrats at work have bought guns and many got CCW permits. When I asked them why they are gun owners now, they cite increase in home invasion robberies that recently occurred in their neighborhoods near their houses.

No, I do not believe gun ownership is declining on a national basis, not in the past year. Just look at recent record setting gun sales ... there were many new gun owners as mentioned by multiple sources.

I think they are right as not many people are buying guns. I stopped at a LGS and they had almost no guns in stock. Must be because no one is buying them and they cut back on how many they carry. That would be a liberals slant on it. Gun sales are at an all time high so how can they make such a stupid statement and worse yet why would anyone want to read a paper so full of BS?

That's great. Enough guns in the last 2 months (Nov. Dec. 2012) to outfit the active members of the Chinese and Indian Armies.

From the link.
In the four years since Barack Obama was first elected president in November 2008, an estimated 67 million firearms have been purchased in the United States. In November a record 2 million guns were sold in America. This was followed up by another record in December. 2.7 million guns were sold in America in the last month of 2012.
Nope, I don't think gun ownership has decreased the past 4 years. 67 million is A LOT! :D

It's an incredible blessing to have enemies who tell themselves lies (and FERVENTLY believe them) that nobody on one's own side would ever fall for.

It was an indispensable ingredient in our defeat of Germany and Japan in WWII.

Like the Japanese in 1945, the anti-gunners have convinced themselves that the other side just won't fight and will just fold like a house of cards.

I just hope those delusions hold out for as long as possible.

It's a lie. By EVERY factual measurement gun ownership is growing by leaps and bounds. The NY Times ran this as part of its "you don't need guns" campaign.
