Cosmoline, you're being a little rough on NYC's finest, aren't you? Most of them probably have as little use for hissoner as we do.

Here's an ABC News piece on the colored pieces.

I've always heard that once the Second Amendment is gone, the First Amendment would soon follow. This jackassery on the part of Mr. Bloomberg is a fine example of chipping away at both simultaneously.

I would write more, but none of it would be High Road.

NYPD would kill me for keeping a firearm in my pocket, so no I don't think I'm being rough on them. Work for a nazi dog, you ARE a nazi dog.

Mayor Bloomberg has issued a "forthwith" to the NYPD, so that later this year ...

... his next grand scheme to combat crime can be unfurled!

(My sincerest apologies to the members of NYPD DB Midtown!)

yeah, that bit about "honest businessmen" would have knocked me down,if i had'nt been sitting.

alright, i personally think this is just downright hilarous. my question is how much more business is this guy getting because of bloomberg? i know that if i had some extra cash i would get something duracoated just for kicks. and i wouldn't duracoat anything if i hadn't seen the bloomberg collection.

hmmmm.... maybe the 10/22 would like pretty colors?

So is Krylon illegal in NYC? Or just any paint that could be used on a gun to make it look like a toy. I'm thinking of Duracoating my carry piece. probably one of the dark gray shades.

This time, Bloomberg angered Steve Lauer, owner of Lauer Custom Weaponry, when he pushed through a law that punishes anyone who uses, buys or sells a gun-coloration kit in New York with a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.

So someone who's in possession of an illegal firearm, with which he or she intends to commit a violent felony, is going to care about a year in jail or a $1,000 fine?

Bet they'll stay away from gun free zones with them too huh?

Any law that Bloomberg pushes is against the law. This guy thinks he runs the country. I think we should use this guys money against him. Everyone should come up with the worst piece of crap junk gun you got and sell them all to Bloomberg as a buy back scheme. And then use his own money to sue the scumbag so it will force him to resign.

Imagine an officer who comes upon a teenager pointing a pink gun into a crowd. If the gun is a toy, an innocent teenager may be killed - and others, too.
Since when did brandishing a gun (pink or black) become a requirement for NYC police to shoot you? I think NYC finest have a clear history of shooting people without guns, moot point Mr. mayor.

Mr. Bloomberg,

We decided to color handguns this year instead of Easter Eggs to honor your great vision. Attached are pictures of our latest work. Perhaps you can use this as justification to ban eggs, stickers, Christianity or the celebration of Easter in your great city.

As far as the criminal portion of this goes, wouldn't a simple can of spray paint, available at most any hardware store be sufficient to 'confuse' cops?

I mean, these kits are for paint jobs meant to last for YEARS under the demands of a firearm - high temperatures, shock, harsh chemicals.

If I'm a crook I'm unlikely to bother with them. A $5 can of paint would be more than sufficient. If it starts peeling after it's fired or within a week, big deal.
