I knew a guy who's first name was Chevy and his middle name was Colt. He was named after his dad's Chevy and his dad's Colt.

Sort'a gun related:...

I named our two pooches after Virgil and Allie Earp. I chose those two names mainly because Allie Earp was still alive after I was born.

Sounds corny, but that's the truth.

Woody

Funderb--

Roland as in takes a licken/ keeps on tickin or

Roland as in the gunslinger?

either way actually is a fine suggestion

if i get another dog i'll name it underfoot

A prize will definitely spur a new pot of coffee and a better round of possibles for you.
I hear they sell 1,000 patch bags of those triple twill Butches cleaning patches now....GOOD STUFF.

Anyway, I named my pooch after what I wind up with after a good day at the cleaning bench - Rags.

Muzzle seems a little shallow, slug seems unattractive.

PYTHON.....THERE ya go.

Let me know when you have the patches ready to send out.

Wesson.

I am probably going to name my son Colt and if he is as interested in shooting as I am I will probably try to track him down a Colt Paterson revolver for one of his birthdays. I think that would be real neat.

I was wanted to get a pair of Great Danes and name them "Sturm" & "Ruger".

I think "Ithaca" would be a good dog name as well.

I named my folk's current dog (13 years ago) on our way back from watching our tractor be built in Waterloo, IA...His name is "JD" ;)

Live with it for a while before you name it. If it's a biscuit shy of a breakfast (i.e., goofy) you could name it Addie (for accidental discharge) or Endie (negligent discharge).

I've heard that dogs respond better to names ending in long e or long i sounds. I know I do. I like to be called honey, baby, sweetie, daddy, etc.

Try on the name. Stand outside at night and yell it at the top of your lungs. If you don't feel stupid while yelling it then it might be a winner.
One of my dogs is a terrier mix (I call him a Whatinhell Terrier). I named him after my favorite sandwich....Reuben, shortened sometimes to Rube. My wife was laughing her head off one night while I'm standing outside yelling "Roob! Roob!" She said it sounded as if I were the one barking. It's too late to change his name now....he thinks he's Reuben.

awesome thread.

My Boxer who's 2 yrs old is named Barrett.

Too bad he doesn't live up to his name though since he is only 60-65lbs. But he sure does listen to me and my family really well and is really aware of his surroundings. Best listening, children friendly, guard dog we've ever owned.

I vote for Ruger because I knew a cool Black Lab named ruger.

But...what breed and color will the little bugger be?

Will it be the same as Obama's puppy?

Details matter when naming kids and pets. Just curious.

We named our son Walker Samuel, and my wife was for it.:)

Our dog? Not a gun name, but a Western fiction name: (Kennel Name) Augustus McCrae.

My brother has two dogs
American Mastif named Colt
Boston Terrier named Sig

His son is named Gunnar

looked through and I hadn't seen Browning. My buddy's hunting dog is named browning, we call it winchester to piss him off, the biased guy!
