Does anyone watch any of the various gun shows that are one the outdoor channel on Wednesdays? I believe the whole group of segments is called "Midway USA's Day at the Range". Some of the shows are pretty good, like the Shooting Gallery or Shooting USA; others not so much. American Rifleman (and moreso Guns & Ammo TV) seem to be commercials for whatever products they are featuring.

I usually scan the topics, and watch if there's something I'm interested in. A lot of times there is. It's all good stuff.

I record them and then go through them. At this time of year most of the shows are reruns. I scan some, but I will sit and watch the entire show of Shooting Gallery, Shooting USA, and Personal Defense Television pretty often.

I just switch back and forth between the History and Military channel...Weaponology, Wild West Tech, Futureweapons, Mail Call (cancelled) and other war documentaries.

Also, CourtTV is pretty good with the "Most Daring..." show.

Actually the American rifleman show is my favorite. The guns and Ammo show always seems to be a repeat and just not that good. The others are OK but often repeats also.

Stupid cable company here puts all those in the "Sports Package." I used to get military, outdoor, all kinds of cool channels in florida. Here in Texas, they all add up on my bill, and I'm not paying any more than I already do.

Torture tests is Guns and Ammo TV. It's ok, but really is just one big commercial. It's a good source to get information about a particular gun, cartridge or accessory, but you have to keep in mind that they never met any gun related item they didn't like.

Moderators! This post is a speck commercial, but it's answering questions that have been raised on this and several other posts!

Thanks for the kind words on my flagship show SHOOTING GALLERY on Outdoor Channel.

Couple of major changes coming up. I've overhauled COWBOYS to be more gun-oriented...I'd let it drift toward too much Old West topics...ah, the joys of delegating!...but I decided to step back in and refocus on guns and shooting. You'll see that in the new episodes starting 1 July, but the major overhaul won't kick in until the 2009 shows!

Secondly, I have a third series focusing on training coming up either 4th Quarter 2008 or 1 Quarter 2009 (depends on how badly I want to wreck what's left of my "leisure" time!). It's going to feature a lot of names you already know — Bill Murphy, Ken Hackathorn, Rob Haught, Dave Spaulding, Michael Janich and Walt Rauch, among others — and it's going to set an all-new bar for shooting shows. I'm extremely excited about this one!

Also, look for Internet-only series on my DRTV and companion material to the broadcast-only shows...can't give you the details on this yet because the papers aren't signed, but my goal is simply to totally alter the broadcast/Internet "balance of power." I can tell you that one of the Internet-only series, rolling out Q4 2008, will be on recreationally shooting the .50 BMG, including training and reloading.

We're also committed to having full Internet-integration on our broadcast series by Q1 2009. That is, you see something you like on SHOOTING GALLERY or the other shows and you want to see more video, collateral material, etc., it's just a click away.

I want to point out here that Outdoor Channel has really stepped up on this; they've asked me what they have to do to provide the very best guns and shooting coverage, and they haven't flinched when I told them (or told them the price). They've agreed to a "Rock the Vote" series of PSAs for this fall's pivotal election and asked me to write Second Amendment-centric articles that go out to thousands in the programming guides.

I try to get to THR regularly, but gosh, there's so little time! I was going to get back to competition this summer, and so far all I've succeeded in doing was looking like a monkey throwing rocks at coconuts at the Single Stack Nationals.

You can always reach me by email at [email protected], however.

Thanks for your support over the years, too! IIt means more to me than I can adequately express...

There was a thread here a few days ago about several of the shows such as Personal Defense TV, guns & ammo, etc. leaving the Outdoor channel and going to The Sportsman Channel?
That overhaul of Cowboys sounds like it'll be great!
I miss Mail Call too, the gunny is hilarious (although after seeing full metal jacket I wouldn't laugh in front of him).
