Everyone should have a plane parked in their front yard, AND advertise they have a huge gun vault in their basement. :) Had to wipe off a little drool on my shirt, though. One HELL of a collection.

WOW! All of those BARs... just lend me one from your massive collection.

And advertising you have a nearly ludicrous (its possible to come close but impossible to be completely ludicrous when it comes to a collection) gun collection with that kind of a vault door - well, you'd need a tank I think to bust in anyway.

I think I would make it a little less obvious than a giant bank vault door, but hey... rich people can afford security! Maybe that place is for the security detail. :p

Good Thing...

it's nice to know he's got a back up flame thrower, just incase. :scrutiny:

In the last picture I swear it looks like swinging steel targets.

Shooting range?

Looks like a shooting tunnel behind a ship's hatchway.

It looks like what General Patton's idea of a rec room should be.

As seen in this month's Better Homes and Bunkers.

Paging CBR600!

it's a nice looking door, and I don't know much about them, but it doesn't look particularly secure with the hinges on the outside and all.

Looks more decorative than anything, experts wanna chime in purely for discussions sake?

If the gun safe manufacturers say it enough, eventually everybody will believe it.

External hinges are a much better design, and have been used for years and years. If you look at the vault door at your local bank, it will also have external hinges, as will most other commercial safes.

That door is what they refer to as a crane hinge door, and is the real deal. Hard to tell from the photo, but it probably weighs somewhere between 3,000 and 8,000 pounds.

Doors like these range in price from $7,000 up to the low six figures, depending on the door (not counting shipping or installation).

if the door locks (via with lugs, or leverage) on BOTH sides, its plenty secure and the hinges are only functional for when its open.

Wow! Very nice and interesting!

I would not advertise my "stuff" if I was this person. Most likely the owner does have SECURITY in his staff of household workers.

My gun room does NOT look like that.

I do know of some men who had NEW gun rooms built in with their new homes. I have heard and seen pictures of this too... big safes and/or concrete rooms.

Some do own planes... not all people who fly or own planes are always 'super rich'. It depends on the COST and style of the plane too. Some are Vietnam Veterans, former or present pilots for a living and some are just people who owned funeral homes. The F.H. business people tend to have the biggest/fanciest place in small towns... in big cities in some cases too. (I won't go there because I think a lot of that is a JOKE even though cremation and/or burial services are something that was, is and WILL always be needed. Off topic too.)

Thanks for the pictures!

Catherine
