In the past, I have seen threads discussing racks and other metods of organizing handguns in a gun safe. At the time I noted the sites, but have been though a couple computers since then. I just got a new safe and can't fit all the handguns into it.
How about some links to different ways to store handguns in a gun safe so they take up less room and make them more accessable.

That looks like what I wanted. Their sales pitch is the same thing I was saying: one handgun lying flat on the shelf takes up as much room as four standing on edge.
They ain't cheap however.
I am not sure how many handguns I have, but it is more than fifty.
That is a lot of money in racks.
I guess this will be a one or two rack/paycheck type of thing.

I went ahead and ordered two, six gun racks. It came to eighty some dollars. Putting a dozen handguns on those two racks will make a huge difference. By the time I get those two in the mail, I will get paid again and can order two more.

This one is home made and cheap.

Cut a piece of 1x6 to the same length as the shelf in your safe. Buy a few pieces of dowel rod to fit the various calibers, I only had to buy 3 or 4 to fit everything from .22 to .45. Drill a hole at a slight angle (varies with each gun) for each piece of dowel rod, then put a little glue in the hole and drive it through. Mine are about 3" long and I rounded of the end that slides into the barrel. You only need to leave enough room between the dowels to allow you to grab the weapon.

Stand the 1x6 on edge against the back of the safe. One gun on each end holds it up.

After reading this I remembered that a local gun store keeps these in stock. I went at lunch today and purchased a 6 and a 4 gun rack. When I got home I cleaned off the top shelf, I can now store 12 guns where I had 8. I also realized I can put two more 6 gun racks in front of these. Therefore I can fit 24 guns where I used to be able to fit 8 maybe 10. They are pricey but are cheaper than another gun safe.

I got my racks the other day and they seem to be very nice. They made a huge difference in my safe. I immediately ordered two more.
It looks like I am going to be able to put around six of them in my safe without making two rows. I think that putting them two rows deep would defeat the purpose of having them: to be able to quickly, and easily be able to find and remove a given handgun.
