Organizing handguns in the safe

Thanks for posting the pics guys. Some really great ideas here.

I was just thinking about selling off some guns to clear up some room in the safe . . . I now realize I just need better organizational skills.

Redneck 2 - I have the same setup using the wood dowels in my big safe in the basement, and in my smaller one in the bedroom closet. It's the best use of space I've found and cheapest too. I did not mount mine to the safe though. I set the dowels at a height that allows the gun to rest on the shelf. All you need is on gun on each end and it is self supporting. Also easy to remove and add more dowels, just in case I need more room.:D

Well...I went home and took a picture of the door of my safe with the pegboard....I need another safe, as this is only about half of my handguns.

Another approach is to get gun boxes and stack them on the safe shelves. You can get a fair number of guns in that way, but it is more for collectors than for folks with guns they want to get at regularly.

If you try that route, though, make a crosscheck list of where the guns are in the safe (row 3, stack 2, for example) so you can find a specific gun when you want to.

Boxes of different sizes are available from Bob Spatola, http://www.protecta-gun.com/.

On some safes, the inner door liner is covered pegboard. You can turn this around and use pegboard hooks to keep your frequently used guns on the inside of the door.
