Did the salesman actually draw his pistol or just removed it from the holster? Being we all should be somewhat gun savy and looking at this senerio we should be able to tell the difference. Has anyone ever pulled their handgun from the holster and never raised the muzzle from verticle to horizontal?
Exactly what was done that was unsafe? The salesman stated what he personally carried as he produced it so it wasn't as if he surprised you with it or at least it shouldn't have been a surprise. Maybe there is more to this story than has been told, but I don't see any problems except for imaginations running wild.
