Gun Show Austin, TX

I read about a gun show in Austin next weekend (feb 16,17). I'm wondering if anyone has any info on it.
Door price?
Size of show?
Quality of show?
Is it worth driving up from San Antonio?

Cost is $5 to get in. It's called the SAXET gun show, they have the same one with virtually the same vendors in San Antonio a different weekend.

The Austin one is the third weekend of the month. I think that the San Antonio one might be the second weekend, but google it and check out the schedule.

They are OK prices are not the best and in most cases pretty silly, typical gun show. Lots of accessories though and you get that hands on feel of things that you might only see online.

It's worth it IMHO just for the entertainment.

The show in Austin is a regular that occurs the third weekend of every month at the Crockett Center.

That's the website that carries the direction and a bit of info. I've only been to the Austin show a few times in the last several years, and the ones up in Belton (the 2 or 3 times a year that one goes on.)
My limited experience is that while they do have quite a bit of stuff there, I have only once walked out with a purchase. I compare that to the multiple times I, as well as several other friends, have bought firearms, ammo, and other supplies/equipment at the Belton Expo shows. We tend to find the prices in Belton to generally be better. That's just me.

Hopefully someone else has better info for you.

according to the SAXET website, the next one in San Antone isn't till late April and Austin appears to have one about every month. I think I'll make the trip. I'm trying to get rid of a few things, maybe looking for a trade, and I'll have a few dollars in my pocket. Thanks for the info.

I'm relatively new to TX. Is "Belton" the name of the show, or the town the show is in?

Belton is the name of the town. It's straight up I35 about 30-40 minutes or so north of Austin. It's actually held at the Bell County Expo Center (huge silver dome to the west of I35) and there are several different shows that go on there throughout the year. Unfortunately, I think they only have maybe 3 shows all year. One of the shows is way bigger than the Austin show but I don't recall the name at the moment. A lot of dealers and such from north Tx come in for it. I'm out of state for a short while so I haven't checked for updates.

Some dealers have better prices on standard guns - for example, Glocks or SW revolvers than the stores. That's the best use of the show.

The big box stores like Academy or Wally's do better on ammo.

Of course, you need your jerky and junk bling.

Once in awhile you find a good used gun - but know your stuff. Bargain - if the dude behind the table has a hissy fit - take it with a grain of salt.
