Gun Show CCW

Same here in NC. We have a policeman at the admissions table asking everyone if they have a firearm. We actually have a law here where you can't carry concealed anyplace that charges admission, so even if the gunshow promoters didn't require it, state law does.

I'm not too concerned about it. It's easy enough to cut the zip tie with a pocket knife after I leave. The only problem is folks keep asking to buy my CCW.

Same here. I'm in NC and it is illegal to carry 1.)at a public gathering and 2.) any place that charges admission.

I usually bring a zippered gun rug with me and unload and zip up in the parking lot. Every dealer that is at least half awake wants to see what I got and wants to know how much I will take for it. :)

I don't see the big deal of unloading and putting a strap on the gun. You're just honoring the rules of the show.
Rules were made to be broken...

If you don't want to follow the rules then don't go.
There are 3 choices in this decision situation:

1. Attend, complying with the gun show rules (and law, where applicable).

2. Attend, violating the gun show rules (and law, where applicable).

3. Do not attend, since you cannot comply with the gun show rules (and law, where applicable).

Each choice has its adherents.

Not following the rules is how the anti's rub it in our faces.

This is an interesting statement. There is something in what you are implying here. That there is a cost to choosing No. 2 above. Indeed, there is.

Hopefully we are not so insecure that we have to break the rules.
Almost always, there is some rationalization that gets constructed to avoid this point. Deftly created little shirks and narrowly-viewed analyses of what's involved provide the intellectual wherewithal to allow the individual's wants to trump the system's reasonable structure. So what if it reflects badly on the ethical capacities of antis? They have their ethical lapses too!

I have been to hundreds of gun shows and have not seen or heard of any trouble from anyone. It's a pretty safe place to go...
I think this is true. But, you know, you never know. :uhoh:

Just my opinion, and this does not addres the concern with "following the rules". I think having multiple people handling, loading, unloading, holstering etc... in crowded place is a really bad idea. This is when accidents often happen. Plus I'm not in a favor of someone I don't know going at my gun with zip ties and side cutters.

I have been to hundreds of gun shows and they always require all guns to be unloaded.
It seems odd I can carry a gun at church but not at a gun show.

It is illegal to CCW in thousands of churches across the country. Depends on the state laws.

Every gun show I have been to requires you to unload, and secure the slide or cylinder with a cable tie.
Makes sense to me. I just leave my gun in the car.
Same here. Or, if I see an inordinate amount of undesireables about, I carry into the show, unload and let him zip-tie the barrel, and reload when I leave. You can generally reload in front of the guard when you leave as there is usually a fire barrel.
